Goldberg Rips Triple H in Trending Video, 'Probably' Responsible for Botching WWE Retirement Speech

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is seemingly still harboring hard feelings toward WWE over how the aftermath of his retirement match played out last year.

At an autograph signing event this past weekend, TikTok user PopTheChain expressed their dismay over Goldberg's retirement speech getting cut off, and the 59-year-old wrestling legend responded by saying, "Yeah, what do you think it did for me? Made me really happy. It just shows what disrespect they have for me."

When the fan asked Goldberg if WWE head of creative Triple H was responsible for the mishap, Goldberg responded, "Probably." The fan then called Triple H a "jackass," and Goldberg seemed to agree by saying, "100 percent."

At Saturday Night's Main Event on July 12, 2025, Goldberg competed in what was billed as his final match against then-world heavyweight champion Gunther.

After losing the bout, Goldberg was surrounded by family and friends, and he proceeded to give a speech, but the NBC broadcast ended shortly into it, and the majority of the speech did not make air.

WWE uploaded the speech in its entirety to YouTube afterward, but Goldberg was still unhappy with the way things played out.

Speaking on his CarCast podcast (h/t Fightful's Andrew Thompson) in July, Goldberg made it clear that he felt WWE planned all along for his speech to get cut off on NBC.

"It might as well been a conspiracy because you had six months to plan for it," Goldberg said. "Also, I knew to an extent that was gonna happen because they were silently pushing the social side of it because obviously, you keep people with a cliffhanger on national television and then say that the rest of the speech with be blistered on social media and it's gonna drive traffic if people care about what it is. So I knew at some point—but I thought in two minutes, it was gonna go to that, and it didn't. … It went somewhere. ... It's bulls--t."

Goldberg's comments at the autograph signing suggest that his feelings have not changed much on the matter over the past eight months.

While Triple H is chiefly responsible for the booking and pacing of WWE shows, NBC clearly had a hard out at 10 p.m. ET on the night of Goldberg's retirement match with no overrun.

That means Goldberg's match or other matches on the show would have needed to be significantly shortened in order to accommodate a speech as well.

Ultimately, the speech aired on YouTube rather than NBC, and Goldberg remains miffed about it.
