WWE Fans Can't Stop Arguing About These 3 Booking Choices by Triple H's Creative

Philip LindseyMar 27, 2026

Pro wrestling fandom is as contentious as ever, and Triple H's creative decisions for WWE remain a hot-button topic.

The figurehead of WWE's creative regime has had highly publicized victories and slumps since he took the helm. However, the chief content officer has faced some of his staunchest critiques as a booker heading into 2026.

This should surprise many longtime fans because his creative vision contributed to the success of NXT during the black-and-gold era. The brand's focus on top-notch matches, less filler and engaging storytelling gave many viewers hope for the company's future.

In fact, many couldn't wait to see what The Game would do with the main roster once Vince McMahon stepped down.

To that end, it would be disingenuous to say the product hasn't improved in some way since his promotion in 2022.

Still, there have been some glaring missteps, and fans can't stop arguing about Triple H's biggest blunders and perceived setbacks.

LA Knight's Stop-Start Push

Inconsistent booking has dogged much of Triple H's time as the head of creative.

Lyra Valkyria and Chad Gable are two examples of Superstars who inexplicably plummeted down the pecking order after a promising run. Nonetheless, no one's stop-start push is more confounding than LA Knight's.

The breakout star was WWE's hottest success story of 2023, and he has remained a bona fide fan favorite. Every year, fans hope his undeniable charisma and popularity will lead to a career-defining win, but it still hasn't come to fruition.

This has led to discourse about what is hindering Knight. Some detractors believe his age is the most significant reason why the company hasn't fully invested in him, but it's hard to believe that when most of the main event scene is 40 and over.

WWE Elimination Chamber

The Megastar has proven staying power with the audience, but it hasn't generated a Royal Rumble or Money in the Bank victory. The fact that debates about whether he deserved the opportunity persist indicate he still has untapped potential.

John Cena's Final Match

John Cena's farewell tour was a fascinating microcosm of everything WWE concurrently excels at and overrelies on.

The year-long swan song was a lucrative endeavor for the company, but it lacked the overarching story that would have made it legendary. That isn't to say it didn't have some highlights, but it left many fans wanting more.

The follow-up to Cena's historic heel turn at Elimination Chamber was underwhelming, but the outcome of his final match gained the most criticism. Many viewers didn't want to see him lose, but even the most reasonable critics hated the idea of him tapping out to Gunther.

WWE - Saturday Night's Main Event

After all, his motto was "Never Give Up," and his personal philosophy motivated children all over the world. Ending his career on such a dour note divided fans, and the live crowd loudly booed Triple H for the first time in recent memory.

Although many took to social media to share their interpretations of the finish, just as many voiced their frustration with an anticlimactic conclusion.

Should Cody Rhodes Have Defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40?

The finale of WrestleMania 40 is undoubtedly one of the most satisfying and well-executed moments in the event's history.

Cody Rhodes finished the story in a main event filled with cameos and callbacks similar to the third act of Avengers: Endgame.

Nevertheless, many of Roman Reigns' most vocal online fans will still argue it wasn't the right time for The Tribal Chief to lose to the returning Superstar.

Two years have passed, and it's still among the most divisive subjects on social media. Some would have preferred to see The Rock and Reigns finally clash in a long-awaited dream match. Meanwhile, others insist Rhodes should have ended The Head of the Table's reign of terror a year prior.

It's truly bewildering that this discourse has lasted this long. It's an assured testament to the popularity of The Bloodline saga and the top star of this generation.

Monday Night RAW

WWE's waning numbers and perceived drop in quality have only fueled debates on whether Rhodes was an ideal successor.

The prevailing rumors of tension between the two stars also guarantee that speculation and arguments about this won't end any time soon.
