Scottie Scheffler Reportedly Withdraws From 2026 Houston Open Due to Birth of 2nd Child
World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler has reportedly withdrawn from this week's Houston Open with his wife, Meredith, expecting the couple's second child imminently, per Brentley Romine of Golf Channel.
On Tuesday morning, the PGA Tour's Communications department reported that Scheffler had withdrawn and been replaced by Matt Kuchar. No reason was given, but Romine reported the news soon afterward.
The Schefflers welcomed their first child, Bennett, in May 2024.

Scheffler is currently slated to return to the course at the Masters, which runs from April 9-12. The next PGA Tour tournament after the Houston Open is the Valero Open from April 2-5, but Scheffler is not listed in that field.
Scheffler has made six starts in his 2026 season, which began with a win at The American Express. He has finished top 25 at all six events, including a T3 at the WM Phoenix Open and a T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The 29-year-old Scheffler is a four-time major winner with two victories at the Masters and one apiece at the Open Championship and PGA Championship. He has won 20 times on the PGA Tour overall.
