Stone Cold Steve Austin Reveals Status for WWE Raw on '3:16 Day' as Sports World Honors Icon
WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin is being honored on Monday for "3:16 Day," but he won't be a part of the festivities.
During an appearance on The Takedown on SI, Austin revealed that he won't be attending this week's episode of Monday Night Raw because he's preparing for a race.
"Man, they should tune in because they love WWE and Monday Night Raw. I'll be a few days out from that race, the race that I'm talking about with my racing career, and we're trying to get that car ready and we're working our asses off," Austin said (h/t WrestlePurists). "So I'll be hunkered down in a garage out here in BFE, Nevada, trying to get this buggy ready, side-by-side utility vehicle, to race this grueling 250-mile race with everybody else that I race with. So I want to get out there and put my own show on out there in the desert."
WWE is celebrating 3:16 Day with a Best of Stone Cold marathon on YouTube.
Other companies took to social media to celebrate Austin's iconic career:
WWE is also giving fans 31.6 percent off with a promo code on WWEShop.com to celebrate 3:16 Day.
Of course, the 61-year-old's legendary "Austin 3:16" promo at the 1996 King of the Ring pay-per-view tied him to that number until the end of time.
"You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16… Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!" Austin said in a moment that skyrocketed him to superstardom.
Austin hasn't appeared in WWE since Night 2 of WrestleMania 41 last April. He's competed in desert racing with a UTV since 2023, and he raced the Mint 400 for the first time last year.
Fans hoping for a surprise appearance from Austin on Monday Night Raw might be slightly disappointed, but WWE surely has a lot in store as it continues on the road to WrestleMania 42.
