4 Warning Signs WWE Can't Ignore Heading Into WrestleMania 42
We're just over a month away from WrestleMania 42, and so far, the buildup has been met with mixed emotions from fans.
If you have noticed WWE pushing 'Mania tickets harder than usual lately, it's because there are a lot more still for sale than WWE expected this close to the PLE.
The way the show has been booked isn't creating much buzz, and with just five weeks to go until the event, there is still a lot of room on the card to fill.
Let's take a look at some of the problems WWE needs to address heading into the biggest show of the year.
WrestleMania Card

Before we get into everything, here is a look at what is being advertised for WrestleMania 42 so far.
WWE's Ticket Prices Are Too High and the Company Keeps Bragging About it
2 of 5
A common complaint about every WWE event recently has been the high price of tickets, especially for PLEs that only have four or five matches at the most.
Right now, if you wanted to buy a ticket for both nights of WrestleMania, the lowest available price on Ticket Master is $341, and that is for the worst seats in the arena.
If you want to be in any section that isn't that far away, you are looking at prices from $2,000 to over $11,000 for the closest seats.
Even with WrestleMania being the biggest show of the year, these prices are ridiculous. And keep in mind, these are just basic tickets. If you want the VIP packages, you're going to be shelling out thousands more.
Now, consider this for a moment. Every single time WWE brags about the size of the gate, it's talking about how much money was made in ticket sales.
WWE wants us to be excited about the company successfully charging the highest prices it has ever charged. This is not the same thing as bragging about attendance. This is WWE flat-out telling you, "We just charged more than we have ever charged before. Aren't you excited?"
These are things to be touted on shareholder calls, not on television.
Establish the Rest of the Card Quickly

With so many tickets still available, the easiest way for WWE to entice buyers is to make sure they know what they are getting for their money.
Right now, five matches have been announced, with one of them being an open challenge from Brock Lesnar, so we don't even know who his opponent is.
With nine potential matches left to book, WWE needs to start filling those spots as quickly as possible.
The midcard titles and tag titles from both brands still need challengers, but WWE also needs to add some fresh faces to the mix.
Oba Femi, Royce Keys, Je'Von Evans and Trick Williams should all be featured on this show. It will help balance out how many veterans acts are already booked.
Throwing in a few NXT acts who are going to end up on the main roster soon, like Sol Ruca, would help, too.
Repetitive Booking

While the WWE Superstars always do their best with the material they are given, there is only so much they can do when they are not in charge of booking.
Repetitive storylines and matches will make any promotion feel stale over time, and unfortunately, that has been happening more and more in WWE. We can only watch Orton and McIntyre fight so many times before it's no longer interesting.
It feels like every storyline heading into WrestleMania is a simple "I hate you" story. There's no depth to it, especially for the matches we have seen before.
Having personal animosity involved can make a feud more entertaining, but if that happens with every single one, then it feels forced.
The creative teams needs to sit down and brainstorm some fresh ideas for storylines if it hopes to make WrestleMania a sellout.
Nothing Feels New
5 of 5
Repetition is one thing, but failure to innovate is also a quick way for any promotion to become boring.
When was the last time WWE came up with a new match concept that was truly unique?
Money in the Bank was introduced in 2005 at WrestleMania, and it was a beloved fixture at that event until being given its own PLE in 2010.
WrestleMania would benefit from another fresh idea like this. Adding a unique element to the show would make it stand out even more than it already does.
The thing that made MITB so special were the stakes. Winning that guaranteed title shot was almost as good as winning the belt itself, especially in the early days.
WWE should create a new match type that airs on the first night, leading to some kind of prize on the second night. Even a shot at one of the midcard titles is better than nothing.
What do you think is the biggest issue WWE needs to fix heading into WrestleMania 42? And how can it be fixed?
