Dwight Howard Says He Wants NBA 'Farewell Tour' in Reaction to Taj Gibson's Grizzlies Contract
Dwight Howard is still holding out for a retirement tour.
In response to Taj Gibson coming out of retirement to join the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, Howard said the reason he hasn't officially called it a career is that he wants to rejoin a team and have a proper farewell tour.

Howard has not played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season, when he spent 60 games with the Los Angeles Lakers. He last played in the Taiwan Professional Basketball League in 2022-23.
While it might be difficult for Howard to make an NBA comeback at this point, it's reasonable for him to expect a retirement tour after the career he had. He's an eight-time NBA All-Star, five-time All-NBA First Team member and three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner.
In his prime, Howard was one of the most dominant players in the NBA.
There might be a few teams in need of a center at this point in the season, but whether Howard will get a call remains to be seen.
