Michelle Wie West Will Join WTGL After Retiring from LPGA Tour in 2023
Michelle Wie West, a five-time LPGA Tour winner and 2014 U.S. Women's Open champion, announced that she will be participating in the WTGL, which is scheduled to begin play next winter.
"As an investor in Los Angeles Golf Club and a fan of TGL, I'm excited for the chance to compete again through WTGL, which will be a powerful platform for women's golf," Wie West said. "I'm passionate about growing the game, and TGL has proved how new formats through the lens of innovation and creativity can bring golf to a broader audience. The team aspect, matched with the unique environment at SoFi Center, is something I want to be part of and it's going to be incredibly fun to challenge myself, this time alongside teammates, to compete against the best in the world."

Wie West, who retired from professional golf in 2023, is one of eight players who have committed to the league thus far. The rest of the list consists of World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, Charley Hull, Lydia Ko, Lottie Woad, Brooke Henderson, Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson.
The TGL (TMRW Golf League), which was founded by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and sports executive Mike McCarley (the founder and CEO of TMRW Sports), began play in 2025. In essence, it's a golf competition featuring a combination of a simulator for tee shots and platform within an arena for a short game.
The TGL consists of six teams that play each other in a round-robin format before the playoffs and championship.
Matches are 15 holes with teams of three players apiece. The three players take turns for each shot on each of the first nine holes before it goes to one-on-one play from holes 10 through 15, with each competitor taking two holes apiece.
The LPGA and TMRW Sports have teamed up to create the WTGL. Like the TGL, league games will take place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Wie West is an investor in the TGL's Los Angeles Golf Club, so she's already well-versed in the competition.
Now, after a few years away from the game, Wie West will be returning to competitive golf.
