Morgan Reacts to Brady Calling WWE 'Cute'

Liv Morgan became the latest WWE Superstar to chime in Saturday after legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady's comments about WWE and professional wrestling.

During a recent appearance on the Impaulsive podcast with YouTuber and WWE Superstar Logan Paul (h/t Boston.com's Khari A. Thompson), Brady gave his thoughts on wrestlers and how they compare athletically to football players.

"It's cute," Brady said. "I love WWE. It's very cute. But, honestly, this is like real football, real competition."

Appearing on the Going Ringside podcast (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Morgan offered her thoughts on Brady's comments.

"I think I might have read about it here and there, but I did not pay any mind to it because although a lot of people in WWE are cute, there's so much more to WWE than I think people understand and realize," Morgan said.

"And no disrespect to any sport out there, but I feel like you can take a WWE star and perhaps put them on the football field and they will make do. We will get it done. But can you take a football star and put them in a WWE ring and can they do everything that we do? I don't know. I don't know about that."

The 2026 women's Royal Rumble winner concluded by saying, "So, you know, I think football is actually kind of cute. I think football's cute."

Before Morgan weighed in, Sports Illustrated posted a video in which CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Paul Heyman, Oba Femi and Tyler Breeze were asked about what Brady said:

Punk made light of it and McIntyre suggested that it didn't bother him, but both Heyman and Femi had some strong words for Brady.

"What's Tom Brady done," Heyman said. "He's thrown a football across a field that was caught by [legendary New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob] Gronkowski. Gronkowski deserves the credit. [Longtime Patriots head coach Bill] Belichick and his girlfriend deserves the credit, but Tom Brady uh-uh."

Femi added, "For those who think it's cute and it's fluffy and it's all sweet and stuff, you can come and try, you can lace up some boots and then let's watch you puke."

Brady is an all-time great athlete in his own right with seven Super Bowl wins, five Super Bowl MVP awards and three NFL MVP awards to his credit.

However, he may be selling the world of pro wrestling a bit short given the remarkable things that so many wrestlers are able to consistently pull off in the ring.

Reported Reason for WWE Changing Sky vs. Giulia Match

WWE originally advertised a match between Iyo Sky and Giulia on Friday night's episode of SmackDown, but the match was changed to Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia instead.

According to Cory Hays of BodySlam.net (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), the reason for the change is because the match between Sky and Giulia is "being saved."

It is unclear why WWE announced Sky vs. Giulia in the first place, but there was a great deal of excitement among fans when that occurred.

Sky and Giulia are two of the biggest women's wrestling stars to ever come out of Japan, but they have never faced off in a one-on-one match.

Perhaps the WWE creative team wasn't privy to that, and decided to make the change when it became aware that a dream match of sorts hadn't yet happened.

Instead, Ripley and Giulia met in what was a highly entertaining match in its own right, although there was not a definitive finish.

Ripley ended up winning by disqualification when Nia Jax and Lash Legend interfered by attacking her. Sky made her presence felt by running down and saving Rhea from further damage.

That set the stage for Ripley and Sky defending their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against Jax and Legend on next week's SmackDown.

Reported Expectations for Jericho's Potential WWE Return

If and when Chris Jericho makes the move from AEW back to WWE, it reportedly may take fans by surprise.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), Jericho will show up "on a day when people don't expect him there" should he return to WWE.

Meltzer's comment was in response to a question about whether WWE's mystery crate angle for Elimination Chamber on Feb. 28 in Chicago is leading to a Jericho appearance.

Last week, Fightful Select (h/t Carrier) shot down the idea that Jericho will emerge from the crate, as the publication reported that Jericho is still "firmly under contract" with AEW.

Fightful added that it is believed AEW froze Jericho's contract after he took time off following his last televised appearance for the company in April 2025.

Jericho is still listed on AEW's official roster page, which is normally a sign that a performer remains under contract with the promotion.

The 55-year-old Jericho was in WWE one and off from 1999 to 2018, but he shocked the wrestling world in 2019 when he announced he had signed with upstart AEW.

Given his star power and name recognition, Jericho was chosen as the inaugural AEW world champion, and he went on to have numerous memorable matches and rivalries over the next several years.

However, Jericho became marginalized and was relegated to the midcard for much of 2023 and 2024 before going on hiatus.

Since there isn't much left for Jericho to do or accomplish in AEW, a return to WWE may be the best possible way to close out his legendary career, especially if it concludes with a WWE Hall of Fame induction.
