Germany Wins Gold Medal for Women's Bobsled at Winter Olympics 2026
Germany's Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi won Olympic gold in the two-woman bobsleigh competition for the second straight Winter Games after posting a total time of 3:48.46 over four runs in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, on Saturday.
Germany's Lisa Buckwitz and Neele Schuten took silver with a time of 3:48.99.
The United States' Kaillie Armbruster Humphries and Jasmine Jones got things going with a track record-setting run of 56.92 seconds in their first effort en route to a bronze medal (3:49.21).
Nolte and Levi took the lead after the second run, though, with a time of 56.96. In fact, their second through fourth runs were all the best in the field. Their starts were amazing all evening, ranking second in run one and first in runs two through four.
Nolte is now a three-time Olympic medalist, having finished second in the monobob earlier this year. She and Levi also won the World Championships in Lake Placid, New York, last year.
The top eight finishers were all from Germany (first, second, fourth), the United States (third, fifth, tied for seventh) and Switzerland (sixth, tied for seventh).
The United States' Elana Meyers Taylor, who won gold in the monobob earlier in the Games and silver in 2022 in the same event, finished a solid seventh out of 20 teams on Saturday with Jadin O'Brien.
