Jake Paul Posts Photos, Videos After 2nd Surgery on Broken Jaw from Anthony Joshua Knockout

Jake Paul announced Friday that he recently underwent a second surgery to repair a broken jaw suffered during his Dec. 19 knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.

Paul posted a series of photos and videos of himself in the hospital on Instagram, including the caption, "Had to get another jaw surgery. The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn't rest for the past two months."

His initial surgery took place the day after the Joshua fight on Dec. 20. Paul revealed at the time that he had "two titanium plates" inserted into his jaw and had to go on a liquid-only diet for one week.

The 29-year-old Paul rose to fame as a YouTuber and influencer before trying his hand at boxing.

Since turning pro in 2020, Paul has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the sport, compiling a 12-2 record with seven wins by way of knockout.

Amid his 12-1 start, many of Paul's victories came over former MMA stars such as Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, which naturally led to questions about his level of competition.

In response, Paul beat heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in an eight-round fight in November 2024, and Julio César Chávez Jr. by unanimous-decision in a 10-round bout in June 2025.

However, that did little to satisfy his detractors, as Tyson was 58 years old at the time of the fight and hadn't had a pro bout since 2005, while Chávez was considered well past his prime as well.

All of that led to what was by far the toughest challenge of Paul's career in December when he agreed to fight the 36-year-old Joshua, who was a world heavyweight champion as recently as 2021.

Paul was no match for the much bigger, stronger and more experienced Joshua, who pummeled Paul en route to a knockout victory, improving his career record to 29-4 with 26 wins by way of knockout.

In addition to losing the fight, Paul paid the price in the form of an injury that still has him on the shelf.

For the majority of Paul's pro boxing career, he has fought every four to seven months, but he could be in line for a long layoff this time based on the complications involved with his injury.
