Prediction

3 of 3
Kaori Sakamoto of Japan competes during the Figure Skating...

If Kaori Sakamoto delivers a clean performance the rest of the way, the world's best women's figure skater of the last five years will win the gold medal. The world champion from 2022-24, she has been at the forefront of her sport, dominating the competition and establishing herself as one of the best to ever lace a pair of skates.

With that said, she did not win the world title in 2025. That honor went to American Alysa Liu, who has the best chance of upsetting Sakamoto in Milan Cortina and taking the gold medal.

The 19-year-old returned from retirement to win that medal, besting Sakamoto by 4.99 points. If she can repeat that level of performance against her toughest competition, Liu will make her comeback even more improbable.

Her fellow American, Amber Glenn, is also one to watch.

The 26-year-old is the oldest competitor to ever make her Olympic debut in figure skating, but she has repeatedly shown she has the work ethic and ability to beat anyone in any event.

The United States put three competitors in the top five at the World Championships and while that will be a difficult feat to pull off in the Olympics, it is possible. Still, Sakamoto has been the most consistently great among them all. She wins gold here to culminate what has been one of the great runs by any individual in recent memory.

Prediction: Sakamoto wins gold, Liu takes home silver
