Darryn Peterson's Game Status Revealed After Kansas Star Missed Upset vs. No. 1 Arizona
After missing his team's 82-78 home upset over No. 1 Arizona on Monday with flu-like symptoms, Kansas shooting guard Darryn Peterson will be "good to go" on Saturday, when the Jayhawks visit No. 5 Iowa State, per head coach Bill Self.
Peterson has averaged 20.5 points on 48.9 percent shooting, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals while playing 13 of a possible 24 games. Unfortunately, Peterson has dealt with a hamstring injury, cramps, a rolled ankle and flu-like symptoms this year.

Peterson is currently slated to go first overall in the latest Bleacher Report NBA mock draft from Jonathan Wasserman.
"There's talk about Peterson being the most complete scoring guard prospect of the modern era," Wasserman wrote. "And as long as his pre-draft medicals check out clean, he'll remain the favorite for most teams at No. 1."
Peterson is an electric talent at his best, such as when he scored 26 points on 11-of-13 shooting in just 23 minutes in an 80-62 win over Baylor. He's also explosive, as this poster dunk vs. BYU suggests.
The issue right now is the series of ailments that Peterson has dealt with, leading to questions about whether he's been sitting out due to load management. He's missed nearly half of Kansas' games, including some big contests, none more than the matchup with previously undefeated Arizona.
Self called the injuries a "string of bad luck."
"Was his hamstring legit? Hell yes," Self said, per Shreyas Laddha of the Kansas City Star. "Would you risk injuring it more in November? No. Was his cramping legit? Yes, positively, it was. Did he turn his ankle bad (at Colorado) to the point where he couldn't practice for nine days, and then practice one day and play BYU? Yes. And that was adrenaline kicking in, in the BYU game. And then, of all things, he gets sick."
The hope, of course, is that Peterson enjoys a string of good health and remains on the court for the rest of the season. He'll suit up for a big one at Iowa State, currently sitting a game behind third-place Kansas in the Big 12 standings. Tipoff in Ames is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
