The One Match That Could Steal WWE WrestleMania 42 Weekend
Heading into WrestleMania 42, WWE must revisit its best women's feud of 2025 and give us the finale we've been waiting for.
It's troubling that we're just 64 days away from The Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment, and the direction for most of the women's division is still unclear. Even more, WWE surprisingly hasn't set up a match-up featuring two of the most popular women on the roster, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
The Japanese Superstar was the company's MVP last year, delivering the best match at most of its premium live events. More to the point, Sky and Ripley clashed in two triple-threat matches that topped many year-end lists.
The main event of Evolution exceeded expectations, and their showstopping match with Bianca Belair upstaged the top stars during WrestleMania 41 weekend. Still, the two haven't settled their rivalry because the Aussie hasn't beaten The Genius of The Sky yet.
This is still the one-on-one match that many fans are clamoring to see. If Triple H wants to capitalize on long-term storytelling, Ripley vs. Sky is the payoff we've been waiting for.
A Marquee Showdown Years In The Making
The most compelling pro wrestling storylines are often straightforward. Last year, WWE laid out the history between these two competitors, who debuted in the 2018 Mae Young Classic.
The semifinal match ignited this rivalry and gave Sky her first victory over the 29-year-old. Ever since, she has dominated Ripley in their encounters on NXT and the main roster.
Her undefeated record against The Eradicator played into the build for their aforementioned triple threat match on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Sky ultimately triumphs as the first Japanese woman to win at the event.

This paved the way for their one-on-one bout at Evolution, where Naomi played spoiler. Ms. Money in the Bank cashed in her contract and robbed Ripley of the chance to secure her first victory in this feud.
The two have recently enjoyed success as a tag team, but they still have unfinished business. So, it's puzzling that WWE completely dropped this storyline for now and focused on the rift between Sky and Asuka instead.
The Damage CTRL's split turned out to be a hit for Raw and another boost for the women's tag division. Nevertheless, we expected Ripley and Sky to pick up where they left off by WrestleMania season.
To that end, Rhiyo would undoubtedly guarantee that the women's tag titles would land on this year's card. However, a one-on-one match between them is much more appealing.

The High Profile Match That WrestleMania 42 Needs
WWE's return to Las Vegas has come with highly publicized struggles to match its ticket sales from last year. Adding Ripley vs. Sky to the two-night card isn't enough to alleviate these woes, but it's a step in the right direction.
Although this is a multifaceted issue, the general apathy in response to this year's ever-changing plan is a part of it. If Triple H's creative regime picked up this longstanding rivalry, it would at least show the fans that the company is still dedicated to a program they invested in.

That could go a long way in an attempt to regain their trust and curate the most entertaining card possible. At this rate, everyone knows this match will deliver, and it would be foolish to pass on a follow-up to the most acclaimed WWE bout of 2025.
Sky solidified her place as one of the best in-ring performers on the roster last year, and she belongs in a singles match at the biggest event in the industry. Meanwhile, Ripley is one of the few women who is famous enough to believably headline The Show of Shows.
It's a winning combination, and WWE should bet on them again. This is such a sure thing that the company could make it the Night 1 main event.
