5 Young UFC Fighters Who Will Break Out in 2026
The UFC is always on the hunt for new talent. The promotion relies on numerous talent-scouting programs, including Dana White's Contender Series, The Ultimate Fighter, and Road to UFC, which have already produced many high-level fighters, and even some champions.
That trend figures to continue in 2026, as some of the promotion's hottest young fighters look to set themselves apart on a crowded roster.
Here are five fighters we think will really announce themselves this year.
Magomed Zaynukov
1 of 5
Whether you know him by his chosen nickname "Chanco," his accidental nickname "John Pork," or his actual name, Magomed Zaynukov is probably already on your radar.
The Russian lightweight earned his UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series in October, defeating Lucas Caldas by decision. He has yet to make his official debut with the promotion, but he already has a lot of hype. That's largely because he's a protege of two-division UFC champion Islam Makhachev and undefeated MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Of course, he's got a record to back the hype up. At 31, he is 8-0 in MMA. He also has some impressive accomplishments in Muay Thai—evidence of the fact that, unlike most of his training partners, he comes from a striking background rather than a grappling background.
Time will tell how far he can make it in the UFC, but hardcore fans are already watching him closely.
Mario Pinto

There are few divisions in MMA as desperate for new blood as the UFC heavyweight division. Thankfully, there are a few promising young prospects coming up in the weight class, notably Mario Pinto.
Pinto, from Portugal by way of London, earned his spot on the UFC roster with a first-round knockout win on Contender Series in October 2024. He followed that up with an impressive run in 2025, first knocking out Austen Lane, and later smashing Jhonata Diniz to a TKO victory to improve to 2-0 in the promotion.
Those victories brought the 27-year-old to an impressive 11-0 overall, and put him on the radar of UFC fans everywhere. The road ahead will not be easy for him—even in a division as thin as heavyweight—but he clearly has a lot of potential.
He'll look to live up to that potential again on March 21, when he takes on No. 15 heavyweight Mick Parkin in his first clash with a ranked opponent.
Quillan Salkilld
3 of 5
There aren't many fighters with as much momentum as Quillan Salkilld right now.
The 26-year-old Aussie lightweight earned his UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series with a decision win over Gauge Young in September 2024. He has not slowed down since.
After earning his spot on the roster, Salkilld rattled off three wins in 2025. First, he knocked out Anshul Jubli. Later, he picked up a decision win over Yanal Ashmouz. Lastly, and most impressively, he scored a stunning first-round head-kick KO against proven veteran Nasrat Haqparast.
As if all of that wasn't impressive enough, Salkilld has already picked up his first win of 2026, having knocked out Jamie Mularkey at UFC 325 last month. Now 11-1, his next fight isn't booked yet, but it would not be remotely surprising to see him mixing it up with a ranked lightweight before the year is out.
Ateba Gautier
4 of 5
Few fighters started 2026 with as much hype as Cameroonian middleweight Ateba Gautier.
Like all of the fighters we've discussed so far, Gautier entered the UFC through Dana White's Contender Series. He punched his ticket to the promotion with a knockout of Yura Naito in September 2024.
After winning a contract, Gautier went on a warpath in 2025, dazzling fans with a trio of ferocious knockouts against Jose Medina, Robert Valentin, and Tre'ston Vines. Those wins ensured he had tons of eyes on him in his first fight of 2026: a clash with Andrey Pulyaev at UFC 324 in January.
Gautier won his fight with Pulyaev but failed to live up to expectations, scoring a tepid decision win rather than a highlight-reel KO. However, that doesn't change the fact that the 23-year-old is now 4-0 in the Octagon.
Even if he wasn't his usual self last time out, he's clearly got a ton of potential. Look for him to remind fans of what he's really capable of when his next fight comes around.
Payton Talbott
5 of 5
This list wouldn't be complete without Payton Talbott.
The 27-year-old bantamweight from Las Vegas scored his roster spot with a decision win over Reyes Cortez Jr. on Dana White's Contender Series in 2023. He then rattled off wins in his first three UFC bouts: a submission defeat of Nick Aguirre, and a pair of stoppages against Cameron Saaiman and Yanis Ghemmouri.
Talbott ended up running into trouble in his fourth UFC appearance, suffering a decision loss to a superior grappler with more experience in Raoni Barcelos. However, that loss seemed to cause him to level up. In his next fight, he delivered one of the most complete performances of his career to date, outhustling fellow prospect Felipe Silva to a decision win.
That victory set Talbott up for the biggest fight of his career: a fight with retiring two-division champion Henry Cejudo at the UFC's final pay-per-view of 2025. He ended up passing that test with flying colors, defeating Cejudo in an entertaining brawl—and, importantly, showing off some vastly improved grappling in the process.
As of now, Talbott's first fight of 2026 still hasn't been confirmed, but after beating Cejudo, he's the UFC's No. 11-ranked bantamweight, and is likely to finish the year in an even better position.
