Olympic Figure Skating Results 2026 Men's Short Program Scores, Highlights Before Medal Round
Ilia Malinin is in first place in men's figure skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics after scoring 108.16 in the short program on Tuesday in Milano Ice Skating Arena in Assago, Italy.
Jackie Wong of Rocker Skating provided details on the scoring.
The 21-year-old American arrived in Italy as the clear favorite to win after taking World Championship gold in 2024 and 2025. Nicknamed the "Quad God," Malinin also won back-to-back-to-back golds at the Grand Prix Final each of the past three years.
Malinin already has won Olympic gold for Team USA as part of the figure skating team event, clinching the United States' first-place finish with his free skate performance to break a first-place tie with Japan in the final competition.
A total of 29 figure skaters competed on Tuesday. The top 24 will advance to the free skate on Friday, and then scores will be combined to determine the final results.
Here's a look at Tuesday's figures via the official Olympic website.

Malinin was exceptional, and his backflip should certainly got people talking.
He was great overall, though, and takes a lead into the free skate.
The top five male figure skaters (per the latest ISU world standings) entering the Olympics (in order) were Malinin, Kagiyama, Mikhail Shaidorov (Kazakhstan), Adam Siao Him Fa and Shun Sato (Japan).
Kagiyama and Siao Him Fa round out the top three. Kagiyama made his presence known in the team event, when he won the men's short program for Japan with 108.67 points. Malinin finished second with 98.00 points.
He went last, right after Malinin's performance, and delivered a great one of his own.
Siao Him Fa is a two-time gold medalist at the European Championships who took bronze in the 2024 World Championships. He's got the big edge for Olympic bronze with a nine-point lead over Daniel Grassl for fourth.
The free skate will take place on Friday and begin at 1 p.m. ET.
