The Netherlands should begin the normal dominance on the speed skating track in the women's 1,000 meters. Two Dutch skaters will be in contention for gold.

The Netherlands will be the dominant nation in the women's 1,000 meters.
Jutta Leerdam and Femke Kok have two of the best resumes in the event. Kok is the world No. 1, while Leerdam is the reigning Olympic silver medalists.
Japan's Miho Takagi will be in the medal conversation as well. She won the Olympic gold medal in 2022 and was a bronze medalist in the event in 2018.
Erin Jackson and Brittany Bowe are the two American medal contenders. Bowe was the bronze medalist in 2022. Jackson defeated Bowe in 1,000 meters at the United States Olympic trials.
The Dutch duo and Takagi will be tough to beat and it would not be a surprise to see all three of those skaters on the medal podium.
Predictions
Gold: Femke Kok
Silver: Miho Takagi
Bronze: Jutta Leerdam
Alpine Skiing Men's Team Combined
2 of 3
Monday, February 9 at 8 a.m. ET (USA and Peacock)
The second leg of the men's team combined event takes place early on Monday morning.
Italy took the lead early on Monday morning in the downhill portion of the event thanks to downhill silver medalist Giovanni Franzoni.
The Swiss are lining up, though, for a potential medal podium sweep.
The top three Swiss teams sit in second, third and fourth going into the slalom portion of the team combined. Each nation is allowed up to four pairs in the event.
Loic Meillard, who is on the third-placed Swiss pair, has been on the slalom podium three times during the current FIS World Cup season.
Meillard is the strongest of the three Swiss slalom skiers, so he should put his pairing with Marco Odermatt on to the medal podium.
France and Norway should be in the mix for medals as well.
France's Clement Noel is third in the slalom World Cup standings. He will try to make up a 0.91 second difference to the leaders.
Slalom World Cup leader Alte Lie McGrath is on the Norwegian team that needs to make up close to two seconds. It's a tough task, but Norway will at least challenge for the podium.
Predictions
Gold: Switzerland (Odermatt/Meillard)
Silver: Italy (Franzoni/Vinatzer)
Bronze: Switzerland (Monney/Yule)
Men's Ski Jumping Normal Hill
3 of 3
Monday, February 9 Noon ET (Peacock)
Reigning gold medalist Ryoyu Kobayashi is at the top of the list of contenders to capture the men's normal hill title on Monday.
Slovenia's Domen Prevc is currently the most dominant male on the World Cup circuit, but he does not have an Olympic medal or a podium from the World Championships in his career.
Austria's Stefan Kraft won the only normal hill event on the World Cup circuit this season. He's a three-time world champion and a gold medalist from the 2022 team event.
Kraft has never won individual Olympic gold and Monday might be his best chance to change that.
Slovenia's Anze Lanisek and Germany's Philipp Raimund were the other medalists in the lone World Cup normal hill even this season. Raimund has been a fixture on World Cup podiums all season.
Predictions
Gold: Stefan Kraft
Silver: Philipp Raimund
Bronze: Ryoyu Kobayashi
