The Americans are already ahead in the team event after three skates.
Ilia Malinin is expected to extend the American lead on Saturday night with a strong performance in the men's short program.
There will be four free skates, one from each discipline, that will determine the team event winner after the men's short program.
Malinin is the heavy favorite in the men's singles. He is a three-time world champion and is looking to become the second straight American male to win Olympic gold in figure skating.
Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito all have chances to medal in the women's singles event.
Japan's Kaori Sakamoto is the favorite to win gold, but Liu is the reigning world champion, Glenn is the current American champion and Levito placed on the podium at the 2024 World Championships.
Madison Chock and Evan Bates are the favorites in ice dance. Like Malinin, the Chock-Bates pairing has won pretty much everything since the last Olympics and a gold would be the crowning achievement on their careers.
The Americans are not expected to contend in the pairs competition. That is the competition with the least amount of American depth.
