Lollobrigida, who won silver in the 3,000 meters in 2022, set an Olympic record time of 3:54.28 from the third-to-last heat.

Ragne Wiklund of Norway and Valerie Maltais of Canada completed the medal podium in the event.

The Netherlands, usually the dominant country in speed skating, only had one of its three competitors finish in the top five.

Gold: Kira Kimura (Japan) - 179.50

Silver: Ryoma Kimata (Japan) - 171.50

Bronze: Su Yiming (China) - 168.50

Kira Kimura nailed a switch backside 1980 on his third run to catapult himself into first place in men's snowboard big air. He had posted the highest score in the first run (89.00), but failing to land in the second left it all up to his final effort.

With Team USA's Oliver Martin hanging onto third place, Su Yiming impressed the judges enough on the third run to receive a 80.25. As a result, the reigning gold medalist at least got onto the podium.

Men's big air delivered Japan its first gold and silver medals of the 2026 Olympics.
