Olympic Alpine Skiing Schedule 2026 Live Stream, TV Coverage for Men's Downhill
The first alpine skiing medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics will be handed out on Saturday in the men's downhill.
History suggests the gold-medal winner will come from a European nation. The last seven men's downhill winners were from Switzerland, France, Austria and Norway.
Switzerland's Marco Odermatt comes into Saturday as the gold-medal favorite. Odermatt is the leader in the FIS World Cup standings in the event.
Odermatt will face competition from a few of his fellow countrymen, as well as a few Italians looking to win the first home gold medal of the Milan Games.
Ryan Cochran-Siegle is the best American medal hopeful, but he's viewed as a long shot to finish inside the top three.

The Swiss contingent has the potential to sweep the medal podium.
Marco Odermatt comes into the Milan Games as the FIS World Cup leader in the downhill. Odermatt was also the overall winner on the World Cup circuit last season.
The Swiss duo of Alexis Mooney and Franjo van Allmen took first and second in the downhill on the slopes of the Bormio circuit last season. Bormio is where the Olympic competition takes place.
Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr could be considered near the top of the list of favorites as well. He won the downhill at Bormio during the 2022-23 World Cup campaign.
Those are the top contenders based on recent results, but it would be unfair to count out Italy's top skiers competing in their home Olympics.
Giovanni Franzoni and Dominik Paris are the top Italians in the field. They both rank in the top five in the FIS downhill standings.
Ryan Cochran-Siegle is the top American medal hopeful. He enters Milan in some decent form after a third-place finish at Crans-Montana, the last World Cup stop before the Winter Olympics.
If you're looking for a long shot, Canada's Cameron Alexander took third at each o the last two World Cup downhill events at Bormio.
