Santi Cazorla, Arsenal Agree on New Contract: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has joined versatile attacker Theo Walcott in signing a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners' Twitter account provided official confirmation of the two players' extended stay:
Although there was no official word on Cazorla's new wages—he was on £80,000 per week before the extension, per Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail—B/R UK's Sam Tighe suggests he deserves to earn more than Walcott:
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger commented on his two players committing, per Arsenal.com:
"We’re delighted to have extended the contracts of Santi and Theo. Both are top quality players who are hugely important and influential to our squad.
As well as their huge contributions on the pitch, they both have a great deal of experience and are very popular off the pitch. We’re very pleased with them both signing contract extensions, as it provides our squad with further stability of quality.
"

Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga in 2012 and has since embedded himself into Wenger's first team. He was a revelation last season, which saw him dictate Arsenal's flow of possession while remaining creative in the middle.
The Spanish midfielder netted seven and assisted 11 in 37 Premier League performances during the recently concluded campaign, per WhoScored.com. Arsenal.com noted no player racked up more than his 53 appearances across all competitions last term.
He needs a quality year to make it into Spain's squad ahead of Euro 2016. Cazorla is often overlooked at international level due to players such as Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas holding down a place in Vicente Del Bosque's squad.
Even so, Cazorla is a classy, cool-headed midfielder who can be expected to play a key role in Arsenal's assault on four competitions next season.
