Dustin Johnson Signs LIV Golf Contract Extension Amid Brooks Koepka's Return to PGA Tour
LIV Golf League announced that Dustin Johnson has signed a multiyear contract extension and will continue captaining the 4Aces GC team.
That squad includes Patrick Reed, Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry, who just signed a LIV contract and will join the two-time major winner's squad, per the announcement.
Johnson's new contract announcement comes two days after Brooks Koepka said he was returning to the PGA Tour after playing four seasons with LIV Golf.
Koepka is heading back to the PGA Tour as part of a new "Returning Member Program."
The PGA Tour did a full brief on what the Returning Member Program entails. In essence, under the guidelines, only four players who left for LIV are eligible for return (Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cam Smith).
"The Returning Member Program allows LIV golfers who have been away from the PGA Tour for at least two years -- and who won the Players Championship or one of the four majors (the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship) since 2022 -- to return to the PGA Tour under certain conditions and with severe financial penalties," ESPN's Mark Schlabach noted.
Koepka is now back, but other big names who decided to leave for LIV will stay, including Johnson.
The 41-year-old won the 2016 U.S. Open and 2020 U.S. Masters, setting a course record at Augusta National Golf Club in the latter event after shooting 20-under.
He and 4Aces are trying to bounce back after a tough 2025, which saw the team finish seventh out of 13 teams.
LIV's season begins on Feb. 4 at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia.
