Deion Sanders, Colorado Reportedly Land Commitment from FBS Receiving Leader Scudero

Paul KasabianJan 4, 2026

Head coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team have landed a major commitment in the NCAA transfer portal as former San Jose State wide receiver Danny Scudero, who led Division I-FBS with 1,291 receiving yards in 2025, has reportedly agreed to join the Buffaloes.

ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reported the news Sunday on Scudero, who revealed his plans Friday to enter the transfer portal.

The 5'9", 174-pound wideout, who added 88 receptions and 10 touchdowns last year for San Jose State, has two years of eligibility left for Colorado.

Colorado is looking to bounce back from a 3-9 season (1-8 in Big 12) that featured the team finishing just 116th out of 136 Division I-FBS teams in scoring. The offense needs work, and Scudero can help turn that unit (now led by first-year offensive coordinator Brennan Marion) around.

Scudero began his career at Division I-FCS Sacramento State in 2024 and impressed with the Hornets, catching 52 passes for 664 yards and five touchdowns. The slot wideout then dominated at San Jose State, and now he'll see how he fares for a Power 4 school.

He did face Power 4 teams twice last year. Against Texas, Scudero caught seven passes for 60 yards. Three weeks later, Scudero dominated Stanford with 11 receptions for 135 yards and two scores.

Scudero finished with 130 or more receiving yards six times, with a high of 215 on seven catches (two touchdowns) vs. Hawai'i.

He's ultimately another great addition via the transfer portal for the Buffaloes. Scott Procter of DNVR Sports broke down what Colorado has done thus far.

Scudero and wideout Kam Perry, of note, could form a great dynamic pass-catching duo. Perry, a former Miami (Ohio) star, caught 43 passes for 976 yards (22.7 yards per reception) and six touchdowns in 2025.
