Seth Rollins Talks WWE Unreal Season 2, SummerSlam 2025, Becky Lynch in B/R Interview

Mike ChiariJan 19, 2026

Season 2 of the hit reality series WWE Unreal is set to drop on Netflix on Jan. 20, and Seth Rollins gave his take on the show and its behind-the-scenes style in a recent interview with Bleacher Report.

Rollins wasn't among the main subjects featured in Season 1 of WWE Unreal, but he will be far more involved with Season 2, as Netflix has confirmed his participation, along with several WWE Superstars.

The Visionary admitted that while he typically has an old-school mindset with regard to wrestling, he also understands the importance of making the product more accessible, saying, "I am certainly a traditionalist when it comes to our industry, protecting it and protecting certain stories and characters and stuff like that. But it's also a new age, it's a new world. Our audience is expanding, especially with our partnership with Netflix, and people want to consume our content in a different way."

There was a time when every aspect of professional wrestling was a closely guarded secret, but that hasn't been the case for quite some time thanks largely to the rise of the internet.

Rollins acknowledged that change and delved into how and why he came to accept the fact that lifting the veil that has long covered pro wrestling can be a positive thing for the business.

"I think there's always been a fascination with the behind-the-scenes part of our industry, and I think the first season of Unreal did a great job of showing our audience and the Netflix audience how much goes into what we do," Rollins said. "I think that's the thing that I took away from it the most is it really exposed people to a new side of professional wrestling in the sense that it's an art form, there's a relationship with our live audience, our online audience, our audience at home. There's a production aspect that goes into it. There's a lot of thought and a lot of intelligent people behind the scenes that make this thing go round. I think if you can see it from that perspective, it might allow you to appreciate what you see on Monday nights even more.

"Being a part of Season 2, I was semi-reluctant at first because of the way I approach the industry. There are certainly some things that will remain off limits, but at the end of the day, I do think that it is a good way to bring in a new audience, a different audience, and show them just how incredible our business really is."

Despite fans' constant hunger for inside scoops, Rollins and WWE managed to pull off one of the biggest swerves in recent memory at SummerSlam 2025.

On the July 12 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, Rollins appeared to injure his knee, which led to LA Knight hitting him with the BFT and pinning him for the victory.

In the weeks that followed, WWE played up the notion that it was a legitimate injury, and Rollins even went out in public on crutches and stated publicly that he would be out for an extended period of time.

Although some reports surfaced that questioned the authenticity of the injury, nobody was 100 percent sure until Rollins arrived at the conclusion of Night 1 of SummerSlam.

After CM Punk beat Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, Rollins made his entrance on crutches. However, he tossed them aside, made his way to the ring and successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Punk to become the new world champ.

While a lot of deception and commitment went into pulling off such an enormous work, Rollins suggested that he has no issue with fans getting a chance to see how everything played out behind the scenes in WWE Unreal.

"I don't mind them looking at the process," Rollins said. "In retrospect, I think that's kind of a fun thing. I think it's no different than if we were to do some sort of documentary down the road and talk about it, which WWE has been doing for years, so that part of it doesn't bother me at all. And in retrospect, I think it was executed quite well. In our industry, there's always gonna be speculation that things aren't as they seem, and that's kind of part of the fun of wrestling and of WWE is getting to play that armchair booker. Getting to second guess certain decisions or think about what the outcome of a story is going to be. That's episodic television and that's what we do in WWE is create these moments where we get to tell stories and we get to play with emotions and we get to change and fine tune and do things in real time."

While there is often plenty of second guessing during the aftermath of a seismic angle, Rollins has no regrets about the way things went down because of how well the storyline went over in the end.

"I wouldn't have changed anything," Rollins. "I really enjoyed that story and I enjoyed participating in that. I didn't enjoy crutching around at my daughter's school for weeks, but that is what it is. That's my commitment to the game, so to speak. I thought when you look at the end result and the final outcome, that moment at SummerSlam taking the world championship from CM Punk was very special. It's one of those things that I think when you look back at the year it'll be a very big moment. It was a really fun thing to do."

Rollins' appearances on WWE Unreal Season 2 will be something of a family affair since his wife and fellow WWE Superstar, Becky Lynch, is also confirmed to be part of the series.

At WrestleMania 41, Lynch returned from a nearly yearlong hiatus to be Lyra Valkyria's surprise partner in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

Lynch and Valkyria won the titles, but they dropped them back to Morgan and Rodriguez on the ensuing episode of Raw, and Becky proceeded to turn heel on Lyra.

From the point forward, Lynch arguably had a better year than any woman in WWE, holding the Women's Intercontinental Championship and joining forces with Rollins in a rivalry against Punk and AJ Lee.

Having a willingness to be part of WWE Unreal on his own is one thing, but Rollins also had to weigh the impact of both himself and Lynch being on the show, and what that meant in terms of shining a light on their personal lives.

Ultimately, Rollins noted that he and Lynch made the decision as a couple to be on the show, and they did so under the condition that they be portrayed in a genuine way.

"We're both performers and we're both in the public eye, so I think it's just about communication and making sure we're both on the same page with how we want certain things to be portrayed and how we want certain things to be looked at," Rollins said. "Obviously, we're peeling back the curtain and allowing people to see a little bit more of our private lives than we had before, but we knew that going into it and we made the collective decision to do the show and allow the cameras to show certain things and certain aspects of our lives that we haven't before. Then it's just a matter of making sure that what is shot is in line with sort of the reality that we live.

"That was one of my bigger things is that you wanted it to be real. You want it to feel like this is an authentic representation of who we are as people and what we are as a couple. I think looking at that and looking at how they use our daughter and our family, it was just a matter of making sure it was legitimate and that it wasn't some sort of manufactured situation. There wasn't any manufactured drama, there wasn't any bulls--t is the easiest way to say it. They didn't pull any of that. They weren't trying to stir the pot, they weren't trying to make things seem any different than how they were. So, as long as we were able to capture that authenticity, I felt pretty confident. And as long as Becky and I communicated properly and made sure that everything was how we wanted it and how we felt good about it, then we were all on the same page and everything was great."

Like Rollins, there is little doubt that the fans' biggest desire when it comes to Season 2 of WWE Unreal is maintaining the authenticity that was so evident throughout Season 1.

Rollins' comments suggest that is indeed the case, the fans will get a chance to see for themselves when Season 2 hits Netflix on Tuesday.
