As reported by BBC Sport, the fee makes the England international the second most expensive defender in the game's history behind Paris Saint-Germain's David Luiz.
"I'm absolutely delighted to sign for City, and now the deal's done, I'm looking forward to the next stage in my career," Stones told the club's official website. "I've obviously seen what's going on here at the Etihad, it's an ambitious club with a great manager, so I can't wait to get stuck in and help achieve the goals."
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe thinks the former Barnsley man will thrive at City:
The 22-year-old leaves Goodison Park after making 77 Premier League appearances for the Toffees during his two-and-a-half-year spell on Merseyside, per Transfermarkt.
Stones' transfer comes after Everton did their utmost to retain the player's services last summer, going so far as to reject the transfer request he reportedly submitted in August 2015, per BBC Sport.
Manchester City had been linked with a move for Stones after concerns grew last season around the fitness of captain Vincent Kompany, who featured for the club on just 22 occasions in total.
The club may also not have complete faith in high-priced pair Eliaquim Mangala (£32 million) and Nicolas Otamendi (£32 million), who haven't quite lived up to their price tags since arriving in the Premier League. Stones has areas in his game that he needs to improve on too, per WhoScored.com:
Stones has made 10 international appearances for England since his debut in May 2014 and is regarded as one of the nation's brightest defensive assets. City manager Pep Guardiola appears to have faith in him.
A move to Manchester represents a monumental leap in Stones' career, but the defender will be striving to ensure his first-team involvement isn't diminished by the inevitable jump in competition at the Etihad Stadium.
