WWE Divas Division Needs the Bella Twins in Order to Remain Entertaining
Wrestling snobs are a little too anxious to move on from the Bella Twins. If that happens, then what? A Bank Statement here and a Figure Eight there with no clearly defined heel? A lack of pivotal conflicts and storylines that make people care in the first place?
If fans are truly going to appreciate the new breed of Divas currently on the main roster, the Bella Twins need to be around to invoke that visceral heat.
As I mentioned on the PodNasty Wrestling Podcast, their very presence will make the NXT Divas seem more popular than they actually are.
On Sunday at WWE Battleground, some fans couldn't wait to point out how they felt Brie Bella appeared inferior in the ring compared to her NXT foes. Good. Heels aren't supposed to do anything that makes fans happy. If WWE ever commits to a full Bella heel turn, it will create the drama that this WWE Divas revolution needs to be relevant.
"Bellas go down *I feel good* :) #Battleground
— Kristina Brandorff (@HeelRussian) July 21, 2015"
"Finally watching @WWE #Battleground and its obvious that the Bellas are nowhere near the level of the @WWENXT women
— Daniel J.Denson (@DensonDan) July 20, 2015"
"Thoroughly enjoyable, didn't care who won, the Bellas had to lose though. Nikki to lose 1st match after getting longest reign #Battleground
— Thomas smalley (@Tombythethames) July 20, 2015"
Without Goliath, David is a mere mortal holding his stones. Without the New York Yankees, the MLB is pretty much the NHL.
Dynasties are a good thing, especially in professional wrestling. They enhance the heel characteristics of a given performer and add more meaning to certain matches and feuds. Juxtaposing the up-and-coming NXT Divas with the Bellas' mean-girl archetype creates compelling television.

Cheering for good guys gets boring quickly. It's why a vocal pocket of fans have been trying to turn John Cena heel for years. It also explains much of the backlash against Roman Reigns leading up to WrestleMania 31. Fans need something to despise, especially in the most cynical era in the history of professional wrestling.
The wrestling-focused feuds in the NXT women's division worked because WWE NXT is only one hour long and fulfills a niche for hardcore fans.
The main roster has a much larger, broader audience that will not be as easily captivated by above-average chain wrestling.
The Bellas are the heart of the Divas division. They're the characters who separate good wrestling from great storytelling. Without them in the fold at this pivotal juncture in WWE programming, every other Diva loses meaning.
