Jake Paul Is 'A Little Scared' of Anthony Joshua, Calls Fight 'Biggest' of Career
Jake Paul opened up about his upcoming fight against former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, revealing that his opponent has a resume that ignited some fear.
"Two-time heavyweight champion of the world. An Olympic gold medalist," Paul said about Joshua around the 2:15 mark of his recent YouTube video. "While he was winning Olympic gold, I was filming Vines in high school. A.J. is a knockout artist with fights that have literally ended in seconds. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little scared."
Joshua has a professional record of 28-4 with 25 knockouts. He has a significant size advantage over Paul, a stark departure from the YouTuber's previous opponents.
Paul was previously scheduled for an exhibition fight against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis, who is a foot shorter than Joshua and 120 pounds lighter. Their fight was canceled earlier this month, paving the way for Paul to schedule a fight against Joshua on Dec. 19 on Netflix.
Joshua hasn't fought since suffering a fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. The 36-year-old is at the tail end of his prime, but he should still present a challenge against Paul, who acknowledged that this will be the toughest test he's faced in the boxing ring.
"Make no mistake, this is the biggest fight of my career," Paul said around the 4:00 mark. "I'm walking into the lion's den. I'm doing something that no one else has ever done before. I, Jake Joseph Paul, will knock out, defeat and embarrass Anthony Joshua Friday, Dec. 19, live on Netflix."
