Tommy Carr Flips Commitment to Michigan, QB Is Grandson of Wolverines Legend Lloyd
The grandson of a Michigan football legend has committed to the Wolverines.
Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, class of 2026 quarterback Tommy Carr has flipped his commitment from Miami (OH) to Michigan. Carr is the grandson of Lloyd Carr, who was the head coach of the Wolverines from 1995 to 2007.
Carr is also the younger brother of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr.
According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Carr is a 3-star prospect and the No. 49 quarterback in the class of 2026. Carr initially committed to Miami (OH) in February, but received an offer from Michigan this week and decommitted from the RedHawks.
Carr's grandfather was the Wolverines' defensive backs coach from 1980 to 1986 before taking over as defensive coordinator from 1987 to 1994. In his time as head coach, he led Michigan to a national championship and five Big Ten titles.
The Wolverines will look to get back to competing for national titles with Carr on the roster.
Michigan, which won a national championship two years ago, has had a solid season so far at 8-2. The Wolverines close out the regular season with matchups against Maryland and No. 1 Ohio State, and they'll look to improve their College Football Playoff standings in those final games.
