Mack Rhoades to be Replaced as CFP Chairman After Taking Leave as Baylor AD
Baylor athletic director and College Football Playoff committee chairman Mack Rhoades is stepping down from both positions for personal reasons, per ESPN's Heather Dinich.
Rhoades will notably be stepping away from his role on the CFP committee entirely, and the group will now be down to 11 members, per Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports and On3.
CFP executive director Rich Clark told Dinich that the committee will likely look to replace Rhoades and name a new chairman. Dellenger later reported on names to both step up as chair and replace Rhoades on the committee.
Dellenger gave an update on the current list of committee members. College Football Playoff selection committee member and former college and NFL star offensive lineman Randall McDaniel is also away for personal reasons, but he's planning to return next year.
Regarding Rhoades, per ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, Baylor stated it received allegations about the AD on Nov. 10.
The 60-year-old Rhoades has been a Division I athletic director since 2006 for Akron (2006-2009), Houston (2009-2015), Missouri (2015-2016) and Baylor (2016-2025).
He was named chairman of the CFP Committee last March.
The committee released its second set of rankings on Tuesday. Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Alabama and Georgia make up the top five.
