AP College Football Poll 2025 Week 10 Rankings Released with Top Risers and Fallers

Scott PolacekOct 26, 2025

It was a Saturday of survival across the college football landscape.

Ranked teams such as Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, BYU, Texas and Virginia outlasted daunting challenges to either solidify their positions or move up in the new Associated Press Top 25, which was released Sunday.

However, not every ranked team succeeded, as LSU, Oklahoma, Missouri, South Florida, Illinois and Arizona State all fell.

As has been the case for much of the season, the majority of Saturday's high-profile drama resided in the SEC.

It seemed like Ole Miss' College Football Playoff hopes were slipping away when they lost a double-digit halftime lead and trailed at Oklahoma in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels responded with a Trinidad Chambliss touchdown pass, late field goal and timely defensive stops to escape a road game against the Sooners with a 34-26 victory.

Lane Kiffin's team should be favored in its remaining four games against South Carolina, The Citadel, Florida and Mississippi State and controls its own CFP destiny.

Another SEC team that likely controls its own destiny is Vanderbilt, which took a 17-10 lead in the final two minutes with a Diego Pavia touchdown run and held on by a single yard as Missouri's Hail Mary was caught just outside the end zone. The upstart Commodores still have road tests against Texas and Tennessee, but they picked up a key ranked win over Missouri before that stretch run.

Their only loss came to Alabama, who seemed well on its way to a second loss this season when LaNorris Sellers put South Carolina up eight with a touchdown run in the fourth quarter. However, the Crimson Tide responded with a touchdown, two-point conversion, forced fumble and another touchdown in the final three minutes to secure the win.

Alabama has firmly put its opening loss to a poor Florida State team in the rearview mirror and also controls its own destiny.

So does Texas A&M, which outscored LSU 35-7 in the second half of a 49-25 win after trailing at intermission. The Aggies are still undefeated, but some of the biggest questions coming out of that game revolve around Tigers head coach Brian Kelly's job security after fans voiced their displeasure during the second-half meltdown.

Late charges were the theme for the Lone Star State, as Texas overcame a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime and then beat Mississippi State with a Matthew Caldwell touchdown pass in the extra period.

Caldwell was only in the game because Arch Manning—who was largely excellent with 346 passing yards and four total touchdowns—left with an injury, which ESPN's Mark Schlabach reported Sunday was a concussion.

The Longhorns have to win out and perhaps get some help to reach the CFP, so Saturday's comeback was key heading into November.

Elsewhere in the country, Indiana continued its dominance with a blowout win over UCLA, Georgia Tech and BYU remained undefeated with the latter needing a second-half comeback to beat Iowa State, and South Florida lost its grip on the CFP's Group of Five spot thanks to late struggles against Memphis.

The Tigers outscored the Bulls 17-0 in the fourth quarter to win 34-31 and now have an opportunity to make the CFP themselves as a result. Nico Gramatica missed a 52-yard field goal for South Florida as time expired after a holding penalty on the previous play made it a longer kick.

There aren't many marquee games on the Week 10 docket with the clashes between Ohio State and Penn State as well as Georgia and Florida losing luster thanks to struggles from the Nittany Lions and Gators, but all eyes will be on the matchup between Vanderbilt and Texas.

If the Commodores can go on the road and get another headline win, they will move one step closer to a playoff berth.
