The Basketball Tournament 2015: Scores and Bracket Results After July 19
The 2015 Basketball Tournament's regional play concluded Sunday, with eight total games held in Philadelphia and Chicago to determine who would advance on to the Super 17.
With a winner-takes-all $1 million on the line, the stakes are only getting higher the deeper this tourney progresses. Many of the contests to close the regional phase were rather lopsided, suggesting several of Sunday's winners will be favorites moving forward.
But not all of the clear favorites made it through easily—and one notable squad was eliminated sooner than expected.

Sunday Recap

The biggest upset of the day came when 15th-seeded Sideline Cancer edged out second-seeded Big Apple Basketball.
Former Iowa Hawkeyes standout forward Jarryd Cole had a double-double for Sideline Cancer with 16 points and 10 boards with two blocks. Cole took to Twitter to express gratitude for The Basketball Tournament afterward:
Antoine Agudio had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but after a nice pump fake from three-point range, his attempt glanced off the front of the rim, per the tourney's official Twitter account:
Sunday's top seed in action, the No. 1 Boeheim's Army, would have fallen to a similar fate as Big Apple Basketball if not for some characteristic Syracuse grit and defense to salvage an overtime victory against upstart 20th & Olney.
Recent Orange center Baye Moussa Keita had a monster block in the extra period to preserve an 89-all tie. Then Olu Famutimi sank two shots from the charity stripe with 14 seconds left to help Boeheim's Army advance, per Syracuse Basketball.
Demetris Nichols was the foundation of the offense for Boeheim's Army with 28 points. Eric Devendorf added 18 off the bench, and NBA veteran Hakim Warrick scored 17 to contribute to the cause. The official ejected Devendorf following his heated altercation with Steven Smith, who was also sent off for 20th & Olney after netting 19 points.
Mark Singelais of the Times Union added context to what lies ahead for Boeheim's Army, who will take on a slew of Siena alums for the Liberty Ballers after the Liberty Ballers' win over DMV's Finest in Philadelphia:
Armored Athlete shot out to a 19-6 run on Reach 1 Teach 1 and didn't look back in an 18-point rout. Southern Vermont assistant AJ Mahar is the general manager for Armored Athlete and has clearly assembled a formidable squad.
Team City of Gods was the other third seed in addition to Armored Athlete to advance, doing so with better than 50 percent shooting and a 47-29 advantage in the second half on the scoreboard.
Omar Strong came off the pine for a team-high 19 points in a victorious effort, while Hamady Ndiaye had 11 points and 10 boards. The two role players showed off the type of depth Team City of Gods boasts, which should bode well for its chances to keep progressing in the Windy City.
An outstanding showing from Brandon Johnson saw him pour in 26 points for Houston Live, helping keep his side within striking distance against favored Ants Alumni down just 53-50 at half. However, the second seed took control after the intermission, getting 29 points from Anthony Harris and 26 from William Frisby to win.
The amount of supreme talent on Boeheim's Army will make the collection of ex-Orange players tough to beat in the Super 17. That group has to be considered a huge favorite along with the deep Team City of Gods bunch.
Solid as Ants Alumni have looked in the early going, GM Garrett Martz's team only trotted out five players on Sunday. Ants Alumni still managed to shoot 60 percent but may have to count on others if they're meant to advance past the superior competition in Chicago.
