Jon Moxley and The Hurt Syndicate were amongst the clearest losers and winners from WrestleDream.

Jon Moxley and Real Winners and Losers of AEW WrestleDream 2025 Match Card

Kevin BergeOct 19, 2025

WrestleDream 2025 delivered a special atmosphere in the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri that set up multiple stars for memorable moments.

Only one title changed hands, but multiple major rivalries came to an end in satisfying fashion.

Jamie Hayter got a definitive win over Thekla. Jurassic Express overcame the best offense of The Young Bucks to earn $500,000.

The Hurt Syndicate put The Demand behind them with a definitive victory. Kyle Fletcher picked up the deciding fall in what became a five-match series with Mark Briscoe over the past year.

Mercedes Moné captured her 11th championship by dethroning Mina Shirakawa as interim ROH women's world television champion and set the next challenge to retaining AEW women's world champion Kris Statlander.

Bandido managed to pin Unified champion Kazuchika Okada after he turned on his own partner Konosuke Takeshita.

Hangman Adam Page defended his Men's World Championship successfully but faced the wrath of Samoa Joe and The Opps in a shocking heel turn.

Following career-defining victories and bitter defeats, the following are the real winners and loser from WrestleDream.

Winner: FTR

1 of 13

While FTR and JetSpeed built a rivalry over several weeks, it never felt like a match that was going to get a featured spot on the PPV.

AEW pulled a fast one though, starting this math on the Tailgate Brawl but letting them fight right into the main show. This allowed both teams to add their names to this stacked PPV.

This was especially important for JetSpeed, a team that is still defining its legacy in AEW. This performance showed why they should be on PPV more.

In the end though, this was about FTR, who have rebounded effortlessly from the loss to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

This should put FTR right back in the AEW World Tag Team Championships conversation, setting the stage for a one-on-one rematch with Brodido.

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood have made clear this is their final run as a team together, and they set themselves up to get to their goal: one last title run.

Winners: Thekla and Jamie Hayter

2 of 13

It is rare to see a true grudge match on PPV for the women, so the pressure was high for Thekla and Jamie Hayter.

They delivered in spades, aided by a hot crowd that was into the classically styled hard-hitting battle.

In her first singles match on PPV, Thekla played to the crowd and pushed the heat to a fever pitch, getting the whole crowd behind Hayter's comeback.

When the former world champion managed to catch The Toxic Spider with the Hayterade and pick up the win, it felt like a Herculean effort, overcoming a focused offensive beating from the newcomer.

Even if Hayter won, this is likely the match that set the stage for Thekla's rise to championship contention.

She would be a great rival for Kris Statlander, maybe even dethroning The Galaxy's Greatest Alien when the time is right.

Hayter showed she is all the way back and will remain one of AEW's best women's wrestlers for years to come.

Winner: Jurassic Express

3 of 13

Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express is one of AEW's best tag team feuds, but it has never been this good. Their WrestleDream match was worked at a different speed.

Playing on all that history, these teams delivered one of the best tag team matches of the year, building to some insane near-falls in the final stretch.

By the end, Jack Perry and Luchasaurus could have easily lost this one and not suffered too much.

It was so much better though to see Jurassic Express win such a huge contest and put themselves right back in the thick of the tag team title scene.

This may stand as the greatest match of Jurassic Express's career and sets a new standard going forward.

If Perry and Luchasaurus can deliver at this level with FTR, Brodido, The Death Riders and The Don Callis Family, they are going to redefine themselves as one of AEW's greatest teams.

Loser: The Demand

4 of 13

The Demand bet everything on beating The Hurt Syndicate, and while Ricochet and GOA picked up more wins in this rivalry than anyone has in AEW, Bobby Lashley, MVP and Shelton Benjamin came out victorious again.

This was especially painful due a late No. 1 contender stipulation added to this contest.

The One and Only had previously argued for The Demand to get a shot at The Opps, but Katsuyori Shibata was out of action at the time.

Now that title shot is in the hands of the former World tag team champions and their manager over the younger alliance.

GOA and Ricochet did enough that The Demand should remain a strong alliance, but it was certainly a tough loss at an inopportune time.

Winner: MVP (and The Hurt Syndicate)

5 of 13

The Hurt Syndicate has kept a dominant edge in AEW so far, but AEW audiences can be fickle with time.

Instead of turning on the veteran teams, the WrestleDream crowd responded to The Hurt Syndicate louder than just about anyone.

In particular, MVP got his respect, celebrated as a veteran who can still fight with the best when asked.

He was the heart-and-soul of this match, delivering some of the most emotional moments of the contest.

His fight against all three members of The Demand had the crowd cheering him on. He even got in a crowd-approved Ballin' Elbow for a near-fall.

In the end, he won a shot at gold alongside Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, and he has a chance to win likely his only AEW championship soon when The Hurt Syndicate face The Opps for the World Trios Championships.

Losers: Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe

6 of 13

While Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe fought hard throughout their TNT Championship match, this was the most "filler" match of the night.

After The Protostar's star-making effort against Hangman Adam Page and Chicken gaining a definitive victory over his heated rival MJF, this felt like a step down for both.

These are two men that had teased world title aspirations, both fighting for a TNT Championship that has often been treated more like a TV title.

The big spots were fun. The near-falls after the Jay Driller and Brainbuster were wild spots in a good match.

However, this still ended as a filler match, continuing what could be a lengthy championship run for Fletcher.

Briscoe's momentum was sacrificed for The Protostar's further rise, and it looks less likely than ever that he might get a deserved shot at the AEW Men's World Championship soon.

Hopefully, AEW will set up fresher challenges for Fletcher next while Briscoe can rebuild his momentum with clearer direction.

Winner: Kris Statlander

7 of 13

Kris Statlander first won the Women's World Championship in a 4-Way match where many factors led to her catching "Timeless" Toni Storm for the win.

The Galaxy's Greatest Alien had to do it again at WrestleDream, but this time it was one-on-one. She pulled it off in style.

Not only did Stat defeat Storm, she overwhelmed her. While The Timeless One refused to tap out, it was clear by the end that Storm simply could not beat Stat.

This sets up The Galaxy's Greatest Alien as the star to beat in the women's division with no questions of her legitimacy.

She may be on track though for a dangerous next challenge against a woman that holds two victories over her, Mercedes Moné.

Loser: Mina Shirakawa

8 of 13

Mina Shirakawa is a champion no more, and her title reign will likely be written out of history as she was only the "interim" ROH women's world television champion.

Because of the interim label, Mina's title reign was only official if she defeated the injured champion once upon return, Red Velvet.

She will not get that chance as Mercedes Moné now holds that interim title. It is a shame as Mina had represented ROH well over the past three months.

The Venus will rebound. She still has plenty of opportunities to win gold in the future and delivered a great match with The CEO.

Mina will likely team up with "Timeless" Toni Storm in the upcoming World Women's Tag Team Championships tournament, and they would most likely stand out as the favorites.

That does not take away any of the initial sting of this defeat.

Winner: Mercedes Moné

9 of 13

While Mina Shirakawa lost her interim championship and its legacy, Mercedes Moné captured that gold and delivered on her promise.

She now holds 11 unique women's singles championships.

While one could argue the validity of certain championships, especially the Owen Cup title and calling the Undisputed British Wrestling Championship two distinct titles, the accomplishment is still monumental.

The CEO has gone around the world and represents women's wrestling for shows all across the globe.

Moné has also made clear that 11 is not the limit, and she has already positioned herself to go after Women's world champion Kris Statlander.

When the now former Sasha Banks bet on herself by walking out on WWE, even she likely never believed she could reach this high, taking over the wrestling world.

Winner: Bandido (and Brody King)

10 of 13

While Brodido won at WrestleDream, the story of Bandido and Brody King's title defense was all about the luchador.

He went in with a shoulder injury and a chip on his non-injured shoulder to prove he was not the weak link of his team after their recent loss to Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita.

Bandido pushed through all the pain to get the win for his team, pinning The Rainmaker in the process.

This should put a man already holding two titles in position for another championship opportunity against Okada.

Moreover, it further solidifies the argument that Bandido could be the best wrestler in the world in 2025.

King did his part and put his team in position to win and continues to raise his own stock through this already incredible tag title reign.

Loser: Hangman Adam Page

11 of 13

Calling the man that successfully defended the AEW Men's World Championship a loser may sound like a misnomer, but Hangman Adam Page certainly did not feel like a winner at the end of WrestleDream.

Hoping to earn Samoa Joe's respect, The Cowboy instead drew his ire. Alongside Powerhouse Hobbs and Kasuyori Shibata, The Samoan Submission Machine viciously attacked Hangman after the match.

This takes away three men that were supposed to be allies for The Cowboy and gave him even more enemies.

Meanwhile, Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland are out injured. Kenny Omega is stuck fighting against the whole Don Callis Family. The Young Bucks still remain heels in this fight.

The Cowboy is facing a tall task in keeping the world championship when he is alone and all his enemies have allies.

Hangman might have won the fight, but he finds himself now in a war that may not be possible to win between The Opps, Death Riders and Don Callis Family.

Loser: Jon Moxley

12 of 13

Jon Moxley and Darby Allin both stated that they would never quit, but this match could only ever end one way. One of these two men would need to be proven wrong.

At the end of it all, it was Mox that reached his limit despite all of the punishment The Daredevil suffered at his hands.

Sting arrived to help his protege and turn the tide against The Death Rider until Mox was forced to give up in the Scorpion Deathlock.

This likely puts The Death Rider in a bad position with his own group that saw their leader fail to live up to his word.

What will come of this moment, only time will tell, but it could be the start of disaster for Mox.

Winner: Darby Allin

13 of 13

At the end of WrestleDream, Darby Allin stood tall with the AEW flag in his hand, victorious over Jon Moxley and The Death Riders.

It was an impactful moment for The Daredevil, winning his first singles AEW PPV main event ever.

In another timeline, this may have been where Allin won the AEW Men's World Championship from Moxley, but this never needed to be about gold.

The Daredevil stood on what he believed in and showed that nothing could stop him, no matter how depraved The Death Rider could get.

While nothing has happened yet, this could very well spell disaster for The Death Riders, who may lose faith in Mox after multiple big losses.

Allin has to be pleased to hear that, even if he may not like what The Death Riders become if they turn on Mox.
