Drew Allar Reportedly Had Surgery on Broken Ankle Injury, PSU QB to Make Full Recovery
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar underwent surgery on his broken left ankle Wednesday, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Allar is on track to make a full recovery from the procedure and his timeline to start working out again will be "sometime in the upcoming months," per Thamel.
The 21-year-old suffered the season-ending injury in the fourth quarter of the Nittany Lions' 22-21 loss to Northwestern on Saturday.

The broken ankle put an end to Allar's college career barring an NCAA eligibility change, as he has no more years of eligibility remaining after appearing in at least four games during four straight seasons.
In six appearances prior to the injury this year, Allar completed 64.8 percent of his throws for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns compared to three interceptions.
For his overall tenure at Penn State, he amassed 7,402 pass yards and 61 touchdowns while getting picked off 13 times. He also posted a 63.2 completion percentage, averaging 7.4 yards per attempt.
Allar will now look towards recovering from the surgery while preparing for the 2026 NFL draft, where he could hear his name called. He received a third-round prospect grade from B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson in his scouting report.
"Allar is a natural thrower of the football, possessing immense arm talent to execute every throw in the book," Parson wrote. "He has flashed the ability to be a multi-speed pitcher, layering the football with the requisite touch and arc."
In the meantime, Penn State will rely on redshirt freshman quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer to close out the 2025 season on a high note.
