The collaboration is part of Barcelona's partnership with popular streaming platform Spotify.
In a statement released by the club, Barcelona announced that the collab is Spotify's seventh jersey takeover of Blaugrana, and the first to feature a solo male pop artist.
As part of the statement, Sheeran gave his thoughts on the honor of having his album name emblazoned across the chest of a Barcelona jersey, saying: "Seeing my new album Play on the Barca shirt is something I'm proud of. I'm a big fan of football and FC Barcelona, and I love that we get to merge the worlds of music and football in such a fun way."
Barca star Robert Lewandowski also chimed in regarding the partnership, noting that he and his teammates are fans of Sheeran:
"Ed's songs have been part of our dressing-room playlist for a long time, so seeing his new album on the front of our shirt for El Clásico feels really special. Music and football both bring fans together in powerful ways, and I'm proud to represent that connection on the pitch."
Through eight matches this season, it comes as little surprise that Barcelona and Real Madrid are battling for La Liga supremacy as usual.
Real Madrid currently lead the way with 21 points thanks to seven wins, no draws and one loss, while Barca are two points behind in second with a mark of six wins, one draw and one loss.
Over the past four years, Barcelona and Real Madrid have traded La Liga titles with Los Blancos winning in 2022 and 2024, and Barca winning in 2023 and 2025.
The two iconic clubs have also combined to win 10 of the past 11 La Liga titles.
All time, Barcelona and Real Madrid have faced off on 304 occasions with Barcelona winning 129, Real Madrid winning 111 and 64 draws.
El Clásico is always a huge deal, and Oct. 26 will be no different since the result could go a long way toward determining the 2025-26 La Liga champ.
