Snoozebar Sleepers: 2009 (Bad) Dream Team
With the first Sunday of the NFL season only a few days away, most of everyone’s drafts are complete.
Everyone wants to start the season with a bang. Now is that hectic time as team owners wrestle over dropping their late round draft picks to pick up tasty free agents who slipped through the draft process.
To this point, I have profiled players that I felt had great value late in drafts.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Fantasy leagues are won in the later rounds of the draft where you are able to secure those players that will light up the waiver wire in the first few weeks of the season. The only way to avoid losing out due to waiver priority is to secure these players beforehand.
As the season unfolds, I’ll continue to spotlight good value players. However, this week I want to unveil my 2009 Snoozebar Team. I have created a team of deep round sleepers who each have an Average Draft Position (ADP) of 100 or more. In an average 10-team league, these players are drafted on average in the 11th round or later.
Each week, I will use the scoring rules of the official FantasyDC fantasy league and compare my team of deep sleepers against the fully drafted and maintained teams of the league.
I hope to prove that draft position is irrelevant to fantasy success. My roster will adhere to the roster rules of the FantasyDC league (15 players, 9 starters: QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, DEF) and I will only make roster moves in the event of injury or suspension. In the event that I do not have a startable player available, I will use the scoring average for the top 32 players at that position.
So, without further ado, here is my 2009 team:
QB1: MATT HASSELBECK, SEA (ADP-116.2) Due to recent injuries and a lack of top-flight WRs, “The Hass” has fallen sharply in drafts this year. He is still a smart, accurate QB who will benefit from an improved running game.
QB2: JOE FLACCO, BAL (ADP-116.3) Like Matt Ryan (who is going at an ADP of 83.7), Flacco will be in his second year in the same offense that he led into the playoffs last year. Unlike Ryan, Flacco isn’t surrounded by premiere offensive talent, but his big arm and cool demeanor is perfect for the deep-strike style passing game of Baltimore.
RB1: RAY RICE, BAL (ADP-106.7) Rice has really impressed and should see a lot of work for the Ravens. His low ADP can be attributed to the fact that McGahee and McClain will get their fair share of carries.
RB2: AHMAD BRADSHAW, NYG (ADP-118.8) Already a 1,000-yard rusher last year, Bradshaw should get the majority of now departed Derrick Ward’s carries. Brandon Jacobs has already shown to be a little injury prone so Bradshaw is a premiere handcuff who sees steady work each week already.
