ASU, Kansas Reportedly in Talks for 2026 CFB Game at London's Wembley Stadium
Having already been the host site for several NFL games, Wembley Stadium is closing in on a deal for its first-ever FBS college game in 2026.
Per Brett McMurphy of On3.com, Arizona State and Kansas are in discussions to play in London on Sept. 19, 2026.
ESPN's Pete Thamel added the deal can't become official until Kansas can shift a previously scheduled game against Middle Tennessee to Week 0.
The Kansas-Middle Tennessee game is currently scheduled for Sept. 19 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
If the deal with Wembley Stadium gets finalized, it would count as a home game for the Jayhawks. It will also be the Big 12 opener for both Kansas and Arizona State.
McMurphy noted Kansas officials view London as an "ideal fit" because its home stadium will have a reduced capacity next season as part of an ongoing renovation project at Memorial Stadium.
Wembley Stadium has had a longstanding partnership with the NFL. It has hosted at least one game every year from 2007 to '19. London has also become the unofficial second home for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have played there nine times and are scheduled to play the Los Angeles Rams there on Oct. 19.
If the agreement becomes official, it will mark the second consecutive year the Big 12 will play a game outside of the United States. Iowa State and Kansas State kicked off the 2025 FBS season at Aviva Stadium in Ireland on Aug. 23.
Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark told reporters in July that playing in Ireland was "the first step" toward making the conference a global brand.
The last college football game played in London was a I-AA matchup (now known as the FCS) during the 1988 season when Richmond defeated Boston University 20-17 at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
There are currently two FBS games scheduled to be played outside of the U.S. in 2026, both on Aug. 29. TCU and North Carolina will play in Ireland. Michigan and Western Michigan are slated to square off in Frankfurt, Germany.
