John Cena and Real Winners and Losers of WWE Clash in Paris 2025 Match Card

Chris MuellerAug 31, 2025

WWE has had a lot of success with international PLEs in recent years and it was looking to continue that trend with this year's Clash in Paris.

John Cena's farewell tour continued with a match against Logan Paul, Roman Reigns took on Bronson Reed in a match about pride, and Sheamus faced Rusev in a Good Ol' Fashioned Donnybrook.

When it came to title action, three championships were on the line. Seth Rollins had three challengers for the men's world title, Nikki Bella challenged Becky Lynch for the women's Intercontinental Championship, and The Wyatt Sicks put the tag titles on the line against The Street Profits.

The Paris crowd was loud and rowdy on Sunday night. Let's take a look at who left France as the biggest winners and losers from this PLE.

Winner: Big E

1 of 7

The pre-show before the PLE was two hours long and featured numerous interviews and video packages, which is exactly what we have come to expect.

Big E was part of the panel talking about the event and throughout the Kickoff, the former member of The New Day was repeatedly shown appreciation by the Paris crowd.

As the pre-show was wrapping up, the crowd began chanting "We love Big E," which made him emotional as he became excited and thanked the crowd.

There are few people in this business who seem to be universally beloved both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, but Big E is one of them. His colleagues speak of him with great reverence, and the fans continue to love him despite his retirement from active competition.

It was great to see him get such a warm welcome on Sunday night, and it's always fun when he has a presence at these shows. Hopefully, WWE continues to find ways to use him.

Winner: Bronson Reed

2 of 7

Clash in Paris opened with Reed taking on Reigns in what was the Australian Superstar's biggest opportunity to date in WWE.

Whether he won or lost didn't matter because this contest was about raising Reed's profile to that of a potential main event player.

Until this show, The Auszilla had mostly been relegated to multi-man matches and midcard feuds in WWE. Sunday, he found himself in a one-on-one match against one of WWE's biggest stars of the past decade.

The OTC works a limited schedule, which means his PLE spots are even more limited. Giving one of his singles bouts to Reed is a good indication that management sees something special in The Tribal Thief.

Reed came up short on Sunday, but having a good showing against the longest-reigning world champion of the modern era is still going to benefit him moving forward.

The fact that the segment ended with Reed and Bron Breakker leaving Reigns down and out in the ring was the icing on the cake.

Losers: the Street Profits

3 of 7

Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis put their Tag Team Championships on the line against Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, who channeled Borderlands for their entrance.

Throughout the match, Ford and Dawkins did not seem to be on the same page the entire time. This allowed The Wyatt Sicks to control the pace for quite some time.

The Profits had a big comeback late in the match, but interference from Nikki Cross, Erik Rowan and Uncle Howdy was too much for them to overcome.

The Wyatt Sicks retained the title in a fun match that allowed both teams to shine, but it feels like WWE might be setting up Ford and Dawkins to split.

The Street Profits have had a good run in WWE over the past nine years, so it may be time for them to see what they can do as solo acts. Many fans have been calling for Ford to get a singles run for years, so they may soon get their wish.

The tag team division losing one of its most established duos wouldn't be ideal, but it's the only way either man is going to reach the next level of their career.

Winner: Becky Lynch

4 of 7

The third match of the night was the women's IC title bout between Lynch and Bella. These two have a history dating back to The Man's initial main roster call-up just over 10 years ago, so there was no love lost between them.

The announcers made sure to let everyone know that Nikki entered this match at a significant disadvantage. Not only has she been out of the game for a few years, but as Wade Barrett pointed out, the bar has been raised significantly for women's wrestling in WWE since the days of the Bella Twins being on top.

Nikki held her own and probably surprised a lot of fans with her lack of ring rust. She clearly put a lot of effort into training for her return, but Sunday was not her night.

Lynch retained the title with a pinning combination, leaving Bella looking dejected in the middle of the ring. While a title change might have been interesting, it would have tarnished Lynch's image somewhat.

The Man is one of the most successful Superstars on the roster, so losing the title to someone who hasn't been a full-time competitor for several years would have been embarrassing for her character.

Lynch getting the win was the right decision.

Winner: Rusev

5 of 7

Coming into the Clash PLE, Rusev and Sheamus were even with one win each and a double countout from their three previous matches, so this was supposed to be the big conclusion to their feud.

This was less of a wrestling match and more of a bar fight. The ring was surrounded by what appeared to be old whiskey barrels, a bar setup, and several different types of weapons.

The former League of Nations teammates made good use of all of it as they beat each other senseless, but the biggest spot came when Sheamus put Rusev through two tables with White Noise from on top of a bunch of stacked barrels.

Not only did The Bulgarian Brute score the victory, but according to Michael Cole, it was only the second time anyone has ever made Sheamus tap out in his WWE career.

This was a brutal encounter that might end up being the favorite match from The Clash for many fans. Rusev finally feels important again, which is exactly what this win was designed to do.

Winner: John Cena

6 of 7

Cena's final match on European soil took place this weekend, and it was against Paul, one of the most polarizing people in all of WWE.

Nobody is doubting the work Paul has put into his wrestling career, but the fans in Paris booed him more than anyone else on the entire show. In a lot of ways, it makes him the biggest heel in WWE today.

This match was given a lot of time, allowing them to pack quite a few things into it. They even incorporated some moves from other stars, such as AJ Styles and former WWE Superstar Baron Corbin.

It wouldn't have been surprising to see WWE book Paul to win here, but in the end, he succumbed to a few Attitude Adjustments to give Cena the win.

The 17-time champion helped the Social Media Megastar put on one of his best performances to date. However, this was Cena's time in the spotlight.

He soaked in the applause from the crowd as he celebrated in the middle of the ring. This marked his 99th win at a major event in his WWE career, and thankfully, it ended without Brock Lesnar showing up to rain on his parade.

Winner: Seth Rollins, Loser: CM Punk

7 of 7

Breakker and Reed had been ejected from the building following their attack on Reigns, so Rollins had to go it alone when he defended his world title against LA Knight, CM Punk and Jey Uso.

While the three challengers may have all been babyfaces, there was no love lost. Punk and Uso, who have been allies in the past, had no issues going after each other. Punk even started the match by superkicking Uso to get some revenge for Jey kicking him on Monday.

All four men put in some great work in this match to make it an entertaining main event, but it felt like we were just waiting for some kind of shenanigan that would help Rollins retain his title.

That moment came in the form of Lynch delivering a low blow to Punk, which allowed Rollins to hit a Stomp to get the pin and retain his title.

The Visionary and The Man stood tall over a defeated Punk, Knight and Uso. WWE's ultimate power couple is finally leaning into it, and The Straight-Edge Superstar suffered as a result.

This was a chaotic and enjoyable main event. Although the outcome was predictable, the path we took to get there was surprising. It was a good way to end the event and set up Rollins and Lynch to rule over Raw for the rest of 2025.
