Little League World Series 2025 Wednesday Scores, Bracket Results and Highlights
Let the party begin.
The Little League Baseball World Series is one of the most anticipated sporting events of the summer every year, and the latest edition kicked off on Wednesday in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The annual event has taken place since 1947 and crowns an international champion and a United States champion.
Those two teams then face each other in a winner-take-all title game, which takes place on Aug. 24 this year.
The LLBWS bracket features 10 teams from the United States and 10 international teams competing in a double-elimination style tournament ahead of the championship game. Wednesday presented an opportunity for teams to build some initial momentum and avoid the pressure of win-or-go-home games in the early stages.
With that in mind, here is a look at the scores and schedule for all of Wednesday's action in the opening games of the 2025 LLBWS.
Wednesday LLBWS Scores and Schedule
- Latin America Region defeats Puerto Rico Region, 5-0
- Mountain Region defeats Great Lakes Region, 16-1
- Panama Region defeats Australia Region, 7-2
- Metro Region def. Southwest Region, 1-0
Latin America Region defeats Puerto Rico Region, 5-0
Have a day, Samuel Castillo and Juan Reyes.
The pair starred during Wednesday's first game and led the team representing Venezuela to a straightforward 5-0 victory over the team representing Puerto Rico. Their side is in the winner's bracket, while Puerto Rico has its back against the wall.
Reyes wasted no time setting the tone on the mound and proved to be nearly unhittable while pitching a complete-game shutout. He struck out nine while allowing just three hits and one walk in a dominant performance.
As for Castillo, he went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and drove in four of Venezuela's five runs on the afternoon. He also delivered with his glove at third base in one of the most important moments.
It seemed as if Puerto Rico might rally in the fifth inning with a leadoff single, but Castillo made a diving catch on a line drive and threw the runner out at first for a double play.
It was all the defense Reyes needed as he finished the complete-game gem.
Mountain Region defeats Great Lakes Region, 16-1
If Wednesday's game was any indication, the team representing Nevada is going to be a threat to win the entire thing.
Nevada cruised to a 16-1 victory over the team representing Illinois to open the LLBWS in style. While the offense was dialed in and exploded for double-digit runs, Garrett Gallegos shined on the mound as well.
He struck out six while allowing just four hits and two walks in five shutout innings before Luke D'Ambrosio closed the door in the sixth.
Gallegos didn't need much run support, but he got it in spades from a powerful and relentless Nevada lineup that pushed across 11 runs in the last inning alone as it completely blew the game open.
Ethan Robertson, Jayden Lee and Dustin Greusel each had multiple RBI, while D'Ambrosio and Banks Mossler each had three hits. The bottom of the lineup in particular was dialed in, which made keeping Nevada off the board was a daunting challenge.
And it might continue to be a daunting challenge as the event progresses.
Panama Region defeats Australia Region, 7-2
Panama is in the win column to start the LLBWS.
It defeated Australia 7-2 in a game that featured timely hitting, a strong pitching-by-committee effort and some history:
Alvis Arauz, Angel Bonilla, Eugenio Barrios and Emanuel Flores combined to allow just two runs, four hits and four walks in six impressive innings for Panama. They also struck out 11 hitters with Bonilla (two), Barrios (two) and Flores (three) recording multiple strikeouts in just one inning of work each.
Offensively, the fireworks started early as Anthoni Castillo launched a two-run homer in the top of the first.
The rest of Panama's runs came in the fourth inning, although the victors had to take advantage of some fielding mistakes by an Australia team that made six total errors during the game. Panama pushed across five runs in that fourth inning, which broke the game open for good.
Metro Region defeats Southwest Region, 1-0
Luca Pellegrini threw a one-hit shutout while striking out 11 batters en route to leading the Metro Region (Fairfield, Connecticut) to a 1-0 win over the Southwest Region (Waco, Texas).
Ben Herbst's fifth-inning RBI single, which scored Dante Madera, proved to be the game's lone run.
Pellegrini retired the first 12 batters. Lucas Sontag broke up the perfect game in the top of the fifth with a leadoff double, but Pellegrini responded with three strikeouts to end the threat.
In the bottom of the sixth, Holden Disselkoen walked to start the frame. Luke Helmke successfully sacrificed him over to second. A groundout sent Helmke to third.
The winning run landed on first after a hit-by-pitch, but Pellegrini got one final strikeout to send Metro to the next round.
For Southwest, Shane Grawe was sensational, striking out 11 and allowing just two hits, two walks and one earned run over five innings.
Metro now advances to the next round of the winner's bracket, where they'll face the West Region (Honolulu, Hawaii) on Friday.
Southwest is now on the double elimination side of the bracket. On Saturday, they will face the loser of Thursday's matchup between Southeast (Irmo, South Carolina) and New England (Braintree, Massachusetts).
