John Cena Beats Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris on Retirement Tour

In one of the final matches of his legendary WWE career, John Cena defeated Logan Paul at Clash in Paris on Sunday.

Cena and Paul pulled out all the stops with rare moves throughout the lengthy match, but Cena's patented Attitude Adjustment finisher did the job once again.

It was the 99th win at a premium live event of Cena's legendary career.

At SummerSlam earlier this month, Cena lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes in the main event, and he was attacked afterward by Brock Lesnar, who made his shocking return to WWE programming after two years away.

On the following episode of SmackDown, Cena addressed the events of SummerSlam, and he issued a challenge to anyone in the locker room to be his next opponent on his retirement tour.

Paul made his way to the ring and talked some trash, prompting Cena to challenge him to a match that night. While The Maverick refused, he said he would face Cena in Paris, and the match was made official shortly thereafter.

As that exchange was happening, Drew McIntyre attacked Cena from behind, causing Rhodes to run down and make the save. At that point, a tag team match pitting Cena and Rhodes against Paul and McIntyre was established as the main event of SmackDown.

The tag bout devolved into chaos, as Paul triggered a disqualification by hitting Cena with a low blow, and McIntyre hitting Rhodes in the head with the WWE Championship belt.

It wasn't long ago that Cena and Paul were fighting alongside each other, as they briefly teamed up during Cena's ill-fated heel run.

Ahead of Money in the Bank in June, Cena and Paul joined forces as part of Cena's rivalry with Rhodes, and Cody contested them with Jey Uso as his tag team partner.

At Money in the Bank, Rhodes and Uso beat Cena and Paul thanks largely to R-Truth making a surprising return to WWE and costing Cena the match.

Cena and Paul went their separate ways after that, and with Cena embracing his babyface roots once again prior to his match against Rhodes at SummerSlam, it made Paul a logical foil for Cena while he awaits an eventual showdown with Lesnar.

By virtue of his victory over Paul, Cena now has a ton of momentum on his side ahead of what promises to be a highly physical and deeply personal clash with Lesnar in the near future.
