Jake Paul Urges UFC Fighters to 'Get Your Worth' After CBS, Paramount Contract
Jake Paul had a straightforward message to UFC fighters after the company announced a $7.7 billion streaming deal with Paramount and CBS.
"Every fighter in the UFC now has a clear picture of what the revenue is…no more PPV excuses," Paul posted on social media. "Get your worth boys and girls."
As the YouTuber-turned-boxer said, UFC's new media rights deal removes the old pay-per-view model. Its biggest shows will now be broadcast on Paramount+ or CBS at no additional cost.
While this upends a major component of the old revenue model, a $1.1 billion annual payout is a massive jump over the media rights deal the UFC had signed with ESPN. Any talent signed to the promotion will expect to see a commensurate bump in their individual earnings.
Fighter compensation has been an issue in the past and even sparked antitrust lawsuits. While the UFC and parent company TKO Group Holdings settled one class action suit last fall, other litigation is ongoing.
As part of his long-running feud with UFC president Dana White, Paul has continuously called on the company to give its fighters a higher revenue share. Those critiques aren't going to stop anytime soon in the wake of Monday's news.
