Claressa Shields Hasn't Heard from Laila Ali on $15M Fight After Win vs. Lani Daniels

After defending her undisputed heavyweight title against Lani Daniels, Claressa Shields is ready to move on to bigger and bettter things, but her potential opponent isn't cooperating.

Per ESPN's Eric Woodyard, Shields said after Saturday night's unanimous decision win over Daniels that she's been hoping for a matchup against retired champion Laila Ali to materialize.

"I'm going to stay at heavyweight and hopefully get the big fights with Franchon Crews, Che Kenneally. I want to fight Laila Ali," Shields said. "We put up the $15 million for the fight and we ain't heard nothing back yet."

Ali, the daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, hasn't fought professionally since 2007. While she recently expressed an openness to returning to the ring against Shields, she made it clear that it would cost a hefty price to see her fight again.

"Unless somebody calls me and says they have [the $15 to $20 million], we’re not even gonna have a conversation," Ali told FightHype, per TMZ.

Shields didn't hesitate to offer Ali the $15 million fight purse, but she is still waiting for things to come together.

"Hopefully she saw the fight tonight and says, 'You know what? I think I can take her,'" Shields added. "So, hopefully she saw it tonight and tells us yes, but I just want to make the best fights and the biggest fights, and that's against whoever."
