AEW star MJF was among the many notable figures from the sports world cast in Happy Gilmore 2, which was released last Friday on Netflix. He played one of the titular character's sons.

Fightful Select (via Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) reported the former world champion "got praise from those we spoke to for still making AEW Dynamite episodes in the middle of heavy promotion for Happy Gilmore 2."

Adam Sandler and co-star Julie Bowen told Chris Van Vliet there were some challenges with MJF balancing his wrestling duties with filming for the movie. In one instance, he "came bruised" to the set the day after a match.

Sandler also called MJF "funny as hell" and a "great kid."

This may not be the last time the 29-year-old is featured prominently on the silver screen.

Apollo Crews Still Recovering from Torn Pectoral

Apollo Crews continues to be listed as injured on WWE's internal roster, per Fightul Select (via Ringside News' Steve Carrier).

The former U.S. champion first announced in February he was undergoing surgery for a torn pectoral. He has posted occasional updates during his rehab, writing in May he was "feeling good" and that "it took a while to get my mental game right after the injury happened."

"I'm over that hump now," Crews said. "Just waking up taking it day by day and putting in the work."

A torn pectoral can require a lengthy recovery period. Cody Rhodes was sidelined for seven months after he suffered the injury in 2022.

And for pro wrestlers, they may not return as soon as they're medically cleared. The WWE creative team will want to make sure Crews can hit the ground running when he's back on television again.

Jay White Reportedly Weighing Shoulder Surgery

A broken hand initially took Jay White out of action, and now he's battling a shoulder issue that could require surgery, per Fightful Select (via Felix Upton of Ringside News). That injury is serious enough that he could be on the shelf for the rest of the year.

White hasn't competed since the March 29 edition of AEW Collision.

Switchblade showed up the following week with a cast on his left hand, and an off-screen attack by the Death Riders was the storyline explanation for his injury.

Shoulder surgery may be the most prudent course of action for White when he's already resting up. Multiple more months of recovery is certainly daunting, but declining to full heal his shoulder means he might be at risk of returning and getting re-injured.
