LLWS Legend Mo'ne Davis To Try Out for Women's Pro Baseball League Roster Spot
Little League World Series icon Mo'ne Davis is returning to play baseball.
Davis will be one of more than 600 players to try out for the Women's Professional Baseball League launching in 2026, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).
She quickly rose to stardom as a 13-year-old in the 2014 Little League World Series, becoming the first girl to pitch a victory as well as a shutout in the competition. Davis threw fastballs that reached 70 miles per hour for Philadelphia's Taney Youth Baseball Association.

Now, she'll be attempting to earn a roster spot on one of the six teams in the WPBL.
“I like to try things,” Davis said, per Alex Coffey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “And this was something that I was like, ‘You know what, why not give it a try? Why not help the league grow?’ I’m just not done playing at all.”
The 24-year-old went on to play softball at Hampton University following her LLWS days, operating as a middle infielder. She hit .244 with a .327 on-base percentage across two seasons with the Pirates.
Davis will be vying to become one of the 150 players that'll be selected for the WPBL's inaugural draft when tryouts begin on Aug. 22.
