British Open Tee Times 2025 Pairings and Predictions for Friday Schedule
Friday's second round at The Open Championship serves a few different purposes for the game's best players.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy reside in the collection of players looking to improve their standing ahead of the weekend at Royal Portrush.
US Open champion J.J. Spaun, Tommy Fleetwood and Jordan Spieth are among the middle of the pack looking to try and get into red numbers prior to Saturday.
And then there's the players in dangerous shape in relation to the potential cut. Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau all have plenty of work to do on Friday to feel comfortable about their weekend fates.
The second round begins at 1:35 a.m. ET on Friday. The full list of tee times can be found on the tournament's website.
Scottie Scheffler Finds Himself In the Lead
1 of 3
Scottie Scheffler created a good amount of momentum for himself going into Friday with two late birdies on Thursday.
Scheffler boosted himself to three-under with birdies on the 16th and 17th holes.
Not that Scheffler needed a confidence boost, but it's still good to have that at the start of a major tournament.
Scheffler only made two big mistakes on Thursday with bogeys on the ninth and 11th holes.
He already proved the ability to roll in birdies at Portrush, so if he cleans up the errors, Scheffler could once again be sitting on top of a major leaderboard.
Jordan Spieth Plants Himself Inside Top 10
2 of 3
Jordan Spieth finished the first round at two-over, but it could have been far worse.
Spieth started with a four-over 40 on the front nine, but then he corrected his play with seven pars and a pair of birdies on the back nine.
The steadier back nine play allowed Spieth to move to within six shots of the leaders.
Spieth entered Portrush with four straight top-25 Open finishes, so there should be plenty of confidence that he turns in a much better round on Friday.
Making up a six-shot deficit will be tough, but if Spieth can get to even-par, or even one-under, he'll have a shot to get into the top 10 before the weekend.
Bryson DeChambeau Misses Cut, Flirts With Last Place
3 of 3
Bryson DeChambeau and The Open Championship don't have a great relationship.
DeChambeau has a single top-30 finish and three missed cuts, including one in 2019 at Portrush, in his Open Championship career.
The two-time U.S. Open winner shot a seven-over 78 on Thursday. He was only four shots off the worst score in the tournament.
DeChambeau will likely deal with even more struggles on Friday. The cut line might not be close to the American's reach given the way he played on Thursday.
If he can't roll in any birdies, like he did in the first round, DeChambeau has the potential to rival the worst overall score of the event.
