Damian Priest Says Bad Bunny Has Open WWE Invite amid Travis Scott, SummerSlam Rumors
Former world heavyweight champion Damian Priest commented Thursday on global music sensation Bad Bunny potentially making his WWE in-ring return at some point.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Priest was asked when he wants to see Bad Bunny back in WWE after previously wrestling alongside him and against him:
"Whenever he's ready," Priest said. "That's up to him, as far as like when he's ready physically and mentally. Easy for me to say next week, but he has to be actually ready. And I know the way he is, he'd want to do it properly and train properly. Whenever he's down, he's always welcome."
Bad Bunny is a longtime wrestling fan who made his first appearance for WWE at the 2021 Royal Rumble.
He aligned with Priest and they went on to beat The Miz and John Morrison in a tag team match at WrestleMania 37 in what was the first match of Bad Bunny's career.
Over the next couple of years, Priest turned heel and joined The Judgment Day, and when Bad Bunny returned to the fold in 2023, he entered into a rivalry with Priest.
That led to a street fight between them at Backlash 2023 in Bad Bunny's home country of Puerto Rico. In what was the first legitimate one-on-one match of his career, Bad Bunny was victorious, and both he and Priest were roundly praised for their performances.
It has now been more than two years since that match, and it isn't clear when or if Bad Bunny intends to return to WWE.
Speaking Wednesday on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez (h/t Connel Rumsey of WrestleTalk) said he had heard there were plans for Bad Bunny and rapper Travis Scott to be on opposing sides in a tag team match at SummerSlam next month.
However, "something happened" with Scott that caused him to be pulled, and rather than keeping Bad Bunny in the match, he was also removed, and country music star Jelly Roll "appears to have taken his spot."
Nobody involved has confirmed the authenticity of the report, so it remains unclear if plans were actually in place for Bad Bunny's return.
When Bad Bunny expresses a desire to come back to WWE, though, the promotion will undoubtedly welcome him with open arms due to his worldwide popularity and the excellent work he has done in WWE thus far.
