Gunther's Next Challenger
2 of 4
Gunther has had another dominant year, shaking off his loss at WrestleMania 41 to Jey Uso by defeating the beloved babyface to take back his World Heavyweight Championship before sending Goldberg into retirement Saturday night in Atlanta.
Who could step up to challenge The Ring General at SummerSlam? We will find out Monday on Raw when CM Punk, Bron Breakker, Penta, LA Knight and Bron Breakker battle in a Five-Way match to determine the new No. 1 contender.
While a battle between the Austria-born champion and someone like Knight or Penta would be fun, SummerSlam is the second-biggest show of the year and 2025 is the first time the show expands to two nights.
It needs a strong card full of blockbuster matches to make the most of the moment, and there is no better contest available to Raw than Gunther vs. Punk.
The two have clashed at live events but we have yet to see them even come face-to-face. Punk mentioned the Ring General's name in passing during a promo a year ago, but that was it.
Bringing the two of them together now, especially in the wake of Seth Rollins' injury Saturday night, is the best course of action for SummerSlam and a match that can help sell tickets for the two-night event.
Naomi Cash-In Shakes Up Raw Women's Division

Entering Sunday's Evolution, it was all but a given that 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament winner Jade Cargill was heading to SummerSlam to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women's Championship, with Naomi likely to at least attempt to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase during or after the contest.
Instead, the heel interrupted Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky's epic encounter in the main event of Evolution, cashed in her title opportunity and emerged with the Women's World Championship.
Now, with Naomi holding the gold and Cargill having defeated her twice, look for the latter to switch things up and announce she will be challenging her partner-turned-nemesis at SummerSlam for the title.
Where does that leave Ripley and Sky?
At the end of the show, the respect the two had for each other was readily apparent. Considering their familiar foes in The Judgment Day's Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, a tag team title match between the two is not out of the question.
The Tribal Chief Returns

Roman Reigns has been a name popping back up on WWE programming recently as Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman assert their dominance on Raw.
While Rollins' injury leaves things somewhat up in the air, there is still a major opportunity for The OTC to return and participate in a high-profile match at SummerSlam.
Enter, Breakker.
The former intercontinental champion has been an unstoppable force over the last month, even stepping up to and stealing the spotlight from Rollins a week ago during an opening promo segment.
While tension between The Badass and The Visionary was teased, what better way to further lay the groundwork for Breakker to eventually step away from the faction and embark on his own main event run than by having him step up in Rollins' absence by targeting the former undisputed WWE universal champion?
It is a match that instantly elevates Breakker's star and sets up a clash between two forces of nature for one of the biggest cards of the year. It also makes sure Reigns returns on schedule, which is important for the long-term creative plans in WWE.
