Top 10 Dynasty Mode Teams in EA College Football 26
There is no greater joy in College Football 26 than taking over a program of your choosing, putting your fingerprints all over its existence and carrying a dynasty forward year after year.
EA Sports has given fans the opportunity to do just that with its latest college football release, allowing players to pick a program of their choosing and run that program the way they believe it should be run.
What team should they pick, though? Will it be a rebuild? Will you fire up your gaming system of choice and walk right into a great situation?
With 136 teams to pick from, the options are plentiful. With the latest installment out in the wild and ready to be played by all, here's a look at what teams are worth a look when it's time to fire up your dynasty.
The First Five: Programs That Make Plenty of Sense
1 of 7
Before we highlight five specific options, here are a few programs that just missed a deeper mention. These would make fine dynasty programs for a variety of reasons.
Oregon
From the uniforms to the mascot to the general stadium vibe, Oregon, which has also captured tremendous football staying power, is a fine option to grab a hold of.
Tennessee
Speaking of football environments, Tennessee offers an elite setting in an elite conference. Plus, it's not as trendy as some of the programs in the SEC that will remain nameless (for now.)
SMU
A program that once bought success illegally decades ago has perhaps more momentum that any program in college football, in large part because it's putting tremendous resources to good use. Happy building.
Penn State
There are plenty of reasons this is a tremendous idea, although the strength of the current roster, especially on offense, makes this a delightful option to kick things off with.
UNLV
This program has serious juice, and you have the ability make college football in Las Vegas thrive. Don't sleep on programs such as UNLV, which has the ability to compete for titles every single year.
The Team of the Moment: Arizona State
2 of 7
In many respects, the hardest work is already complete.
Once the doorstep of college football, Arizona State has found new life under head coach Kenny Dillingham. In the past few years, the team has changed conferences, the roster has been overhauled and a football team seemingly on life support has found its footing.
But…now what?
That question makes this a tantalizing option when it comes to starting up a dynasty. It doesn't hurt that you will have access to quarterback Sam Leavitt (91 overall) and wideout Jordyn Tyson (94 overall) to begin.
In terms of pure fun, it doesn't get much more enjoyable than this. Having Leavitt at your disposal is a wonderful entry point to any dynasty—a key cog for the offense to keep rolling.
There are more difficult challenges to take on, and we will get to those. But writing the next chapters of a blossoming football team is a formidable assignment.
The Ultimate Rebuild: Ball State
3 of 7
For those in search of something more challenging, look no further.
The lowest-rated team in college football is Ball State, checking in with an overall rating of 68. After a 3-9 season in the MAC and only four wins the year prior, it enters 2025 as a team in turmoil.
And you are just the person to fix it.
There is perhaps no greater joy than taking a team stuck at rock bottom and turning the ship around. This is not a one-year fix. Heck, it's not even a three-year fix.
Rebuilding a program of Ball State's standing will require great play, recruiting wins and a total overhaul on all fronts. EA Sports allows the end user to dream big, and the dreams don't get much bigger than this.
Can it be done? Absolutely. But it will require time and energy and execution to do so.
Are you up for it? If so, then this is the team for you.
Living on Easy Mode: Ohio State
4 of 7
If the idea of rebuilding Ball State sounds like a little much, perhaps this option will be more your speed.
For those who want to feel success automatically, there is only one direction to choose: Start a dynasty with the Ohio State Buckeyes and never look back.
Let's address the elephant in the room. This is the easy path. You're inheriting one of the best rosters in college football. You're able to recruit essentially any player in the nation. Your stadium will serve as a true home-field advantage in a game where that deeply matters.
Oh, and you'll have control of wideout Jeremiah Smith (98 overall) for at least two seasons and safety Caleb Downs (96 overall) for at least one. If you weren't aware, these are the two highest-rated players in the game.
Is this the most noble way to prove yourself as College Football 26 savant? Absolutely not. But it will be plenty of fun.
Service Academy Superiority: Army
5 of 7
Last season, Army delivered one of its best seasons in recent memory. The Black Knights finished with only two losses, and starting QB Bryson Daily played his way into the Heisman conversation.
There was something deeply satisfying watching this team succeed, and there would be something equally satisfying in carrying this program forward in a digital space.
All service academy programs hold a special place in our hearts. That love transcends football, but leading one of the programs—and becoming a triple-option master—is high on the priority list.
This is a different type of dynasty. The style, the feel, the look and, of course, getting to experience the Army-Navy game every year is a luxury no other school can offer.
Group of Five Ascendency: Boise State
6 of 7
Is the blue turf a perk of committing to Boise State long-term?
You bet.
To be clear, we do not suggest picking dynasty teams based on fields alone, and that is not what is happening here. The blue turf is merely a perk for a pesky Group of Five program coming off a playoff appearance.
The bad news, of course, is that running back/superhuman Ashton Jeanty is off to the NFL. Not having him to carry the ball repeatedly is indeed a con, but reshaping a program that has seemingly delivered in some capacity over the past two decades is an assignment worth taking.
The next chapter of Boise State isn't just making it to the postseason, it's conquering the Ohio States and Alabamas of this world with regularity.
Are you up for the challenge?
The One and Only: [Insert Your Favorite Team Here]
7 of 7
Let's be honest, this is why you play. And perhaps even larger than that, this is why you watch college football.
It doesn't matter what team you root for or why you root for them. The reasons you love a program—whether it's in your blood, you love the mascot, you love the coach or the stadium is a few miles away—are your own.
If you have a team, whether it won a national championship last year or failed to make a bowl, this will be the team you choose. And it should be.
For all of its flaws and imperfections, college football is a deeply loyal enterprise. And the fact that this game exists, in its rebuilt, pixelated form, allows for that fandom to carry forward in truly meaningful ways.
There's no need to change course now. Start a dynasty with the team you love and don't look back.
