Lashley, Shelton Beat Christian, Wayne, JetSpeed to Retain AEW Tag Titles at All In
Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin of The Hurt Syndicate beat The Patriarchy and JetSpeed in a three-way tag team match to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships at All In on Saturday.
Near the end of the match, FTR stood on the apron. At the same time, Christian was setting up Lashley for the Killswitch. Lashley got out of it and pushed Christian into FTR, who fell ringside. That set up a dazed Christian for a spear, and Lashley got the pin and the win.
More drama ensued post-match. As Christian was walking out of the ring, Wayne grabbed him and hit his tag team partner with the Killswitch.
Christian was severely outnumbered one-on-four with Wayne, FTR and Kip Sabian against him, and he then got set up for the Conchairto. As Wayne was about to hit his now ex-partner, an old friend came to Christian's aid in Cope.
Cope, carrying a baseball bat with a bed of nails, came out to a raucous ovation at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Cope double clotheslined FTR before smacking a chair out of Wayne's hands with the bat. Wayne ran out of the ring to avoid being attacked, and that left Sabian, who got a spear to end the onslaught.
Then Cope turned to Christian and helped him up. He told Christian to "go find yourself" before leaving.
Entering All In, Lashley and Benjamin had the fifth-longest world tag team title reign in AEW history to their credit, and they defeated many of the company's top tag teams along the way to remain champions.
In the weeks leading up to All In, two new challengers emerged in the form of Christian Cage and Nick Wayne of The Patriarchy, and JetSpeed, which is made up of "Speedball" Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight.
Given some of their recent success, both teams were named as The Hurt Syndicate's next challengers on a recent episode of Collision.
While not actually related, Cage and Wayne have made it their mission to become the first father-son tag team champions in AEW history. They put themselves in line for a title shot by beating Big Bill and Bryan Keith last month on Collision.
Bailey and Knight only recently started teaming up, but it hasn't taken them long to rise through the ranks and become a legitimate threat in the tag team division.
JetSpeed defeated Gates of Agony and the team of Ricochet and AR Fox on consecutive episodes of Collision and Dynamite last month to put themselves in the title conversation as well.
On the July 5 episode of Collision, one representative from each team clashed in a three-way match, and Knight pinned Benjamin to give JetSpeed some momentum ahead of All In.
If that wasn't enough, JetSpeed stole the tag team title belts from The Hurt Syndicate the following week on Dynamite, and they attacked Lashley and Benjamin with the belts later in the show.
JetSpeed seemed to have everything working in their favor in the lead up to All In, but Lashley and Benjamin rose to the occasion on the pay-per-view stage and retained once again.
