Fletcher was originally scheduled to challenge Adam Cole for the TNT title at All In, but it was announced Saturday during the Zero Hour pre-show that Cole was not cleared to compete due to an injury.
As a result, Cole was stripped of the title, and a four-way match between Fletcher, Garcia, Guevara and Rhodes was announced to determine a new champion.
Prior to the start of the match, Cole cut an emotional promo and expressed uncertainty about whether he will be able to wrestle again in the future:
The original title bout was set to be a rematch of a clash between Cole and Fletcher on the May 28 episode of Dynamite, which saw Cole retain.
Fletcher took the fight to Cole in their first championship encounter, even powerbombing him on the apron at one point, leading to concerns about Cole potentially suffering an injury.
Cole was able to finish the match. However, there was more punishment on the way, as Josh Alexander interfered to cause a disqualification, and both Alexander and Fletcher attacked Cole until Brody King made the save.
Fletcher was unsuccessful in his first attempt to take the TNT Championship from Cole, but he rebuilt his momentum in subsequent weeks, beating Anthony Bowens and Cole's longtime friend Kyle O'Reilly in singles matches.
On the July 5 episode of Collision, Fletcher faced Garcia in a No. 1 contender's match with the winner earning the right to challenge Cole at All In.
The Protostar established his dominance, busting Garcia open and hitting him with several high-impact moves en route to victory.
Entering All In, Fletcher had never won a championship of any kind in AEW, but the 26-year-old has clearly been one of the fastest-rising stars in the company for quite some time.
Despite that, the 56-year-old Rhodes was victorious at All In, winning his first AEW singles title and doing it in his home state of Texas.
