Lakers, Knicks, Warriors, Celtics' Picks in 2nd-Round ESPN 2025 NBA Mock Draft
The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics—the NBA's four marquee franchises—will get their chance to add at least one rookie to their roster in the second round on Thursday.
Here are the projected picks for those four clubs in a second-round mock draft from ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo:
- Boston Celtics (No. 32): Maxime Raynaud, C, Stanford
- Golden State Warriors (No. 41): Rocco Zikarsky, C, Brisbane
- New York Knicks (No. 50): Lachlan Olbrich, PF/C, Illawarra
- Los Angeles Lakers (No. 55): Viktor Lakhin, C, Clemson
The Celtics were the only team from this group that made a pick in the first round. They selected Real Madrid forward Hugo González, who has drawn comparisons to Jonathan Kuminga.
Boston will be the first club from this quartet to draft on Friday at No. 32, with Maxime Raynaud projected to be the pick. The Stanford center would fit on a roster with Al Horford and Luke Kornet both set to become free agents next week.
Horford, in particular, might be tough for the Celtics to retain since he is reportedly drawing a lot of interest from other clubs. Raynaud improved his shooting touch in four years at Stanford. He shot 34.7 percent from three on 5.5 attempts per game and averaged a double-double with 20.2 points and 10.6 rebounds as a senior.
The Warriors and Lakers desperately need to add size on the interior, so it's not surprising to see them connected to big men.
Writing about Rocco Zikarsky, Woo praised his size and "obvious potential defensively, thanks to his 9-foot-6½ standing reach." For a Warriors team that only had one player taller than 6'9" last season, Zikarsky's 7'3" frame would be a welcome addition to their roster.
Viktor Lakhin is a 23-year-old super senior who has 125 games of experience at the college level. The Lakers are a team that is trying to win right now with Luka Dončić and LeBron James, so adding a rookie who doesn't need a long developmental track would seem like a priority.
The Clemson alum was a disruptive presence in the paint last season, averaging 1.5 blocks per game. He also has some shooting ability, connecting on 37.5 percent of his attempts behind the arc in 34 games during the 2024-25 campaign.
New York's projected pick of Lachlan Olbrich is a bet on his instincts and feel for the game translating to the NBA. His athleticism is a question mark, but scouts did take note of him recording a double-double in both of his scrimmages at the scouting combine.
The Knicks have built a team around players who have a knack for making the smart basketball play. Olbrich seems like he would fit that mold for an organization with high aspirations next season coming off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals.
