Celtics Reportedly 'Listening on Calls' for Jrue Holiday Trade After NBA Playoffs Loss
After their early exit from the NBA playoffs, the 2024 NBA champion Boston Celtics are reportedly open to trading a key member of their core.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that the Celtics are "most definitely listening on calls for" starting point guard Jrue Holiday.
Holiday has spent the last two seasons with the Celtics after being acquired in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks. He played a key role in getting Boston over the hump to win the NBA championship last season after years of knocking on the door.

Unfortunately, Holiday dealt with multiple minor injuries throughout this season that forced him to miss 20 games. His average of 11.1 points was his lowest since his rookie year in 2009-10, and his three-point percentage dropped from 42.9 percent to 35.3 percent. The Celtics fell short of their goal of winning a second straight title when they lost to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, creating questions about their ability to sustain their core.
Amid the significant financial constraints Boston is set to face this offseason, Holiday is set to make a salary of $32.4 million in the 2025-26 campaign. The Celtics are highly unlikely to even consider moving their young stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, making Holiday their most expendable trade asset.
Despite Holiday's down year, The Athletic's Jay King reported last month that "his reputation as a known winner and top defender should interest several contending teams if the Celtics do look to move him."
It now appears that Boston is willing to ship away the 34-year-old, so he could be among the big-name players on the move this summer in what should be an exciting offseason.
